Texas DL renewal

DW's drivers license renewal date comes up in the middle our 10 month trip around the border states. Just got letter from DPS stating must renew in person. Has anyone had same problem and got approval for on line renewal?

DL license renewal in NJ has to be in person also. I do know that you can renew early here but I'm not sure about TX. Have you tried to call them and see what yoour options are? There has to be a way to do it.

My wife's DL is up for renewal here in VT. She not only has to go in person, but take mail (utilities) addressed to our address plus a birth certificate or passport. Tough requirements for full timers.

As I recall TX allows one renewal by mail/internet and after that you have to appear in person. If you renewed by mail last time you may be stuck.
I would call and see if a waiver or extension is possible for a period of time. For example SD allows a six month extension and the DMV told me they would grant up to a year. Maybe TX has something similar.

Ok I live in the great state of Texas and my DW is like your DW and to your question your wife has got to show up at any DPS in Texas. The main reason is new picture because the the picture is over 12 yo. And 2 to make sure you are still alive. A friend who is on the local police tells me that there is a lot of the same number licenses out there. And I think we get 2 online renewals if your record is clean. You can go anytime to DPS to renew it before it expires.
