As much as I enjoy fall and camping in the cooler temperatures its also a reminder that camping season is almost over. Well its actually over already for me. Winterized the RV last weekend and reluctantly parked it for the winter. I have to go back this weekend pull the batteries and put the cover on. My cover received some battle wounds last year due to some high winds. So I need to get some of those tarp clamps to replace the attachment points for tie downs. I Hope that works. Anyone else have trouble with wind and if so, how do you keep your cover on?

Well said Greatlakes,it is truely a bad day when we have to put the MH away for the winter. When done the count down starts till we get it back on the road in spring.

Not this year! Just finished buying the parts (2.5" exhaust hose, exhaust adapters, and heavy PVC) to vent the Oasis exhaust out of the garage (and the Onan) to keep the Coach ready to roll! We plan to break out and head to the Texas coast and then Arizona. We're not full timers but I want the ability to keep the Coach warm and ready when the weather breaks and the mood hits!!

Down in this end of the country, that does not compute! It's actually the start of the second season of the year. Just got back from a short trip and planning another for the end of next month.

The sad part for us is we like you winterized and then said our good byes to the ones packing up and headed south for the winter. Yes our snow birds started leaving and the last couple leave this weekend. Leaving us behind....
For one more year....next year were with them..

Yes, tis a sad day for us too living in Florida, we also have to winterize, only without the pink antifreeze.

As Halloween ends and the frost rests on the pumpkins somewhere north of the 29th parallel, the mass migration of the snowbirds begins. These willy creatures began planning exactly 11 months to the hour before their expected arrival by reserving every site in our state and county parks. They move from park to park every 14 days to comply with stay limits. Others, the roosting variety, perch in the many private and commercial bird farms from November to April. The shuffleboard courts are full, pot luck dinners abound, yapping little dogs and the sound of overloaded golf carts whizzing about fills the air.

Then almost as quickly as it began, it's over. When our camping season arrives again in mid April, we enjoy the half to one third off the prime time rates at the private and commercial campgrounds and the state parks once again become available. No flushing out the pink stuff, just hitch up and go. Gotta love it.

For the past 3 yrs, here in the Northeast, we've taken advantage of "Winter Specials" at two different campgrounds. For $800, we get a site with full hook ups that we have access to from Friday morning to Monday morning, plus holidays/school vacation time.

The first year, we were skeptical, but didn't want to keep the rig in the driveway over the winter. As storage prices in my area are easily $500 and up, $800 and the ability to use the rig every weekend is a deal for us.
Turns out, we love it. There are other folks in the campground that also take advantage of the program, so every Friday there's a group of us hanging out at various campfires and doing what campers do

We're thrilled that we get to use our camper all year now. As I've said, this is coming into our 4th season and just getting things set up this weekend, as move-in was Nov 1st

Sorry to hear so many will be facing cabin fever. At least you have the good pictures
and memories to help you through it.

We are hoping that we have the medical issues wrapped up.

So with the Ga. average lows for the next 4 months being 30's-40's with high averages being 50's- 60's and our relative's Louisiana temps being average lows of 40's and high of 70, we are just getting started.

We have about 2 weeks left until Louisiana for 2-3 weeks. Then planning a return in Jan or Feb, knock on wood.

I want to be home for Christmas.

With a little luck and the grace of God, we will get some use out of it this coming year.

I feel your pain. We always tried to make it to Halloween before we had to put the RV away for winter. Didn't always make it. Then there was the six months of snow, ice and salt covered roads, bad tempers, dangerous outside temps...

NO MORE! I'm typing this while in the RV at our overnight stop, on our way to Florida. We'll be just another pair of those "birds" that paid our dues and are now withdrawing from the IRA.

Got home from our last outing.Now its time to winterize and put her in the storage shed.Out with the snowmobiles and in with the MH.Hate to say it but once she's in the storage shed then it's time to pray for snow

. well spring is right around the corner,maybe.

For us this time of year is a good thing as it begins the desert season. RV'ing activity is less in the summer due to the heat.

we feel your pain. we're not retired, and boy some of these posters just like to rub it in that they are! Our camper is stationary, at a campground in VA. they close from Nov 1ish to April 1ish.

We wish we could use ours more often, but it is what it is.

It does give us something to look forward to tho doesn't it?
