I get some pretty good sleep in the RV (king size, Sleep Number bed). I get my best sleep when the outside temps are in the High 50's/Low 60's. When the temps are in that range - it's cool enough that I can open all the bedroom windows for a little cross breeze AND enjoy being under the covers without waking up because it's too hot. Knowing I have no where else I gotta be and nothing that I just gotta get done helps a whole heap as well !!!!

I too sleep really good in the MH, AND especially when it rains. Love that environment for sleeping.

Yup, same here. I measure sleep using a Microsoft Band (like a FitBit). At home, measured sleep efficiency ranges from 80-90%, in the motorhome it's 92-95%.

I generally chalk this up to stress. Trying to calm the mind from the stress of the previous day, and stop it from pre-thinking the stress of the upcoming day. In the motorhome, sofar anyway, there's not much to stress over.

Funny thing when contemplating a good nights sleep. After a thirty year career in the Navy, I've slept so many places that others would decry as immpossible.
Stationed in Japan, and living in civilian housing for many years, the hard as rock futon on the floor was great for my back and sleep. Rain on the slate roof was a bonus. An aviation guy, I bounced around on a number of carriers with squadrons assigned in the Med and the Pacific. One of the places I most fondly recall sleeping was on the middle rack of a three tier rack section up on the 02 level of USS Midway. We were three feet under the arresting gear wires, on the flight deck immediately above us.
about number three wire near as I could figure. Working aircraft maintenance on EA-6B prowlers in 18 hour or more shifts. Whenever I crawled into my "snare" for a "combat nap", secure with my buddys in their racks also we all slept like the dead, unmindfull of 45,000 or 55,000 lb jet aircraft slamming into the deck just three feet above us at speeds averaging 120 mph, grabbing that cable above us and pulling it out with a wild screech. Slept right throught it.
During the Vietnam thing, while assigned to an attack squadron Aboard USS Coral Sea, we operated off the coast of North Vietnam, a place at sea known as "Yankee Station". Operating at times around the clock, you slept and ate when you could in bits and snatchs. I recall no rack time , no showers. Everlasting heat. Slept on the wing of one of my aircraft a Gruman A6 Intruder, a bale of rags for a pillow. Men talking, sometimes shouting, the pitch and roll of the ship, the roar of jets, what ever. And again I slept right throught it.
An old geezer now with a small WGO RV. Yeah, I have to agree with that other guy. Its good to listen to the rain on the tin roof at night.

If it's camping ..... Im sleeping.... I used to take a nap in my canvas top jeep when it rained in the fall. LOVE that sound.

Like SpaceNorman, for whatever the reason, we also sleep better in the motorhome. Not so much on the XX mattress system it came with, but the memory foam mattress we replaced it with. But when it rains ... WOW, what a great night's sleep that will be!

We got back from an 8 week run about a week ago. We both still can't get the good sleep we got on the road.

Maybe it is the great curtains that keep the light out, maybe it is the continuous hum of the AC, Maybe the carefree attitude we get when we travel.

But it all works to make a good nights sleep.

I agree with the quality of sleep. Even on a bad mattress. The problem is waking up and trying to remember that the heck you are!?!?!!?

In the army I learned to sleep anywhere anytime. But I totally agree with the RV sleep. We are at a CG that has a river running in front of the rig. Nothing like it. Oh yes......we also have the gel foam topper which made a good sleep better.

Had to add this to my post above. Good sleeping at sea during air op's!
On my ship USS Midway, it was the O2 level aft under that wire by perhaps three feet. For you folks that didn't serve, ya don't knoew what you missed!
By the way Midway today is decommisioned and now serves as a naval aviation
museum, tied up at the foot of Broadway in San Diego. Kind of emotional for this old sailor, but I 've been back aboard at least three times. Kinda funny. as a "young" senior chief, I scampered up the ships ladders with out a thought.
Today as a spry 76, often have to take the elevators they've installed for visitors. How time fly's. None the less, if I was able and they asked me back,
I'd be outta here today.
