My last post...I think I have gone through the whole stack.

What I have learned is that we were more of an inventive people then than now....wonder what happened ? That the problems we gripe about now are very similar to those back then and that we seems to be far happier with less.. and what we consider to be "new" most likely has been done before ...

Popular Mechanics, July 56

The precursor to the modern truck camper..

What is interesting about this camper is that the boat is part of the structure..no comment on what happens when the boat is away and the weather changes I did a search but I haven't found anything quite like it..

This has actually been proven correct by the myth busters..but over 50 years later...

And lastly, a little gas stove that I wouldn't want to use. Apparently they are still around.. found them on YouTube. The key line is just below the photo !

Happy Camping !

Looks like the front and center axle would both have to steer to get that thing around a corner. Or maybe the front and back axles.

on that trailer, those were called tip outs back in the day. A neighbor just down the road had one of those until a couple moths ago, but that was way to large for an RV and was more a trailer house'

Before slide outs they came up with "tip outs". Typically seen on larger "park models". The extension was hinged at the floor and would, as the name implies, tip in/out. When in travel mode it laid down on the floor inside and the exterior opening had to be covered with something.

I suspect it was a real PITA to set up and break down, which probably explains why you usually saw them only on "seasonal" sites.
