The Gardens RV Community in Crossville, TN

Does anyone here live in the Gardens RV Community in Crossville, TN? We are interested in getting unbiased information about the pros and cons from someone other than the marketers of this community. We would also be interested in any other recommendations of communities with S&B homes and attached RV garages. We would prefer something NOT in the deep South as we probably couldn't take the extreme heat/humidity.

Hi Da-Log,
We are on the same page. I do not own in The Gardens. I have driven through the development. At a macro level it looks well maintained, both the common areas and personal property. There is a club house. I do not know anything about the organized activities. There is no community swimming pool (I did not see one). If one likes the laid back atmosphere of a rural Tennessee community, this might be the place for you. All I could see were two bedroom two bath units. Most were joined by a common wall. There are some that were stand alone. It does get hot in Crossville, during the summer. Be careful when choosing. Some of the older houses have shorter RV garage doors. The newer houses all have garage doors that will fit the most luxurious motor coach.

As to other developments having an S&B + motor coach garage one needs to go to North Carolina or Georgia. The east side of the Smoky Mountains offers several choices at higher elevations (cooler summers). Consider:
Linville Land Harbor - Homes In North Carolina This community offers a section for S&B homes with an attached motor coach garage.

Vista Ridge Homes - Cabins On The Blue Ridge Parkway Similar in location to Linville Land Harbor.

In north Georgia there is:
Paradise Valley Campground, Georgia Mountains

I hope this helps.

Crossville is often the coolest place in Tennessee as it's located on a high mountain plateau. There are warmer places in the South to live.

It's an area that has a large number of GM and Ford retirees living at planned real estate developments like Fairfield Glade. I think there are 7 golf courses in the city, and their Summer Stock theatre is absolutely incredible.

Crossville's an hour from Knoxville, just under 2 hrs. from Nashville and 70 minutes from Chattanooga--centrally located. 1/2 the U.S. population is within a day's drive of there.

Center Hill is a fabulous lake 15 minutes to the west. An hour north is one of the premier fishing lakes in the U.S.--Dale Hollow Lake. Recreation is endless.

It would be a great place to retire to the simple life.

We have friends that live there in the summer and have visited a couple of times. Nice community, but not as active as the winter RV resorts in the deep south (Florida/Texas/Arizona). More like a neighborhood where folks may get together occasionally than the non-stop party atmosphere of some RV enclaves. I like it there, but you may be seeking something different.

Years ago we intended to take a look at the place. We were in an RV park a few hours east of Nashville and intended to visit Nashville and then head over to Crossville. Early the morning we were going to head for Nashville a tornado passed not too far from us. All we got hit with was golf ball sized hail but it still caused almost $4000 in damage to the motor home and car. We both grew up in tornado country and that experience reminded us that we had no desire to ever live in tornado country again. We forgot about the visit at that point.
