I was thinking that with al the threads about LED bulb swaps and efficiency for fixtures installed in our RV, what about the basic multipurpose flashlight? I mean it's a pretty basic piece of gear, I use one almost everyday/night when I am on the road.

We've come a long way from the basic 2 "D" cell incandescent bulb styles.

I found one that runs on a rechargeable lithium ion battery for under 20.00 including battery and charger that puts out an astonishing 1000 Lumens! I can light my whole RV with it!

Those little 3 1/2" 9-LED mini-lights from Harbor Freight are great! They use three AAA batteries and the batteries will last a LONG time! The aluminum cases are very tough and the push-push switch is in the end so it doesn't get turned on accidently. It's amazing how much light they put out! They frequently put them on sale for $1.00 each and sometimes give them free with other purchases. I have a bunch of them scattered around the house and the MH. Best deal going!

My wife bought me a Black & Decker rechargeable wand styled LED drop light for Christmas a few years back. It's become one of my favorite tools. It's battery holds a charge forever. I use it all the time.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with a love for flashlights. Probably one of the most useful items in an RV!

I just bought a package of eight flashlights [led] with battery's for ten dollars at Tractor Supply.

I see those little 9 LED ones all the time...even in Hot Pink! They do work quite well, but I've always feltt hat 3 AAA batteries was a lot. the single AA battery one with a kree bulb puts out much more light, and AA batteries are easy to find. meritline.com have so many of these it's hard to count. Some are even in stock in the US so it doesn't take forever to get.

I do like the harbor freight 27 LED magnetic/hook light. They are on sale this week for 2.49 each in various colors.

The great thing about those LED flashlights these days is that they are so cheap you can give them to kids and not worry if they get broken. No more guarding your flashlight with your life like we used to have to do.

That's a beautifully crafted light, but at over 125.00 and only 60 Lumens I'd rather have the <40.00 with battery and charger 1000 Lumen china sourced one. It's actually very close to the same size as well. I lose stuff....

I bought about 2 dozen of those 3 LED HF lights about a year ago. At the time they were 99 cents each. If you need a RELIABLE flashlight these are not the ones to buy. I have about 6 working ones left.

I bought 4 MagLight LED flashlights, a 3D, a 2D, and 2 double AA ones. They are blindingly bright and so far they are the best. But not cheap.

I have a couple of the LED lights that have a headband, or clip to the bill of a cap. I use these for walking the dog at night or when I need light to see in corners, etc. They have replaceable batteries, but I many times just throw them away and buy new. I still have one of the black, 6 cell tubes like police carry with the adjustable beam. Most of the time I carry it, even if I do not turn it on. It makes a good first defense against loose dogs (loose women get a pass), and it really puts out a nice bright beam when I need it.

I like the Surefires as they are made in the US.

THe Fury is 500 lumens on high 15 on low, the Defender is 200 Lumens on high and 5 on low. The Defender also sports a crenulated strike bezel on both ends.
