Thermo Cube for next time
OK. I'm sure that those of you with years of experience with sub-freezing temperatures have known this all along, but this southern boy's usual encounter with ice is in drinks.
I just found "The Thermo CubeŽ a unique temperature controlled electrical device. It operates with any 15 amp 120 volt electric heater or fan and plugs directly into a standard outlet. It is thermostatically controlled and turns the power on and off automatically, according to outside ambient air temperature." It has two outlets for plugs.
I got the one that comes on at 35F and goes off at 45F. Just what I needed!
$12 -> $14 each, online.
BTW - I have no connection with this company. It just a really cool (cold?) product.

SOP in the NW. Glad you found a product that will work for you. It is a good one and so easy to use.

Been using them, and telling folks about them for some years now.
There are several competitors,, If you shop "Farm" type stores (Farm & Fleet, Tractor Supply, Farm Bureau) they sell them to control stock tank heaters.
Lowes, Home Depot et-al to control eve trough heaters , anti ice dam roof heaters and anti-freezing heat tape.
ONE of the two I use is the Thermo-Cube brand in fact.

Yep, I used those on my low-wattage bay heaters! Works great!

Great product. When I had my 5th wheel, I used them to control my heated hose and the heater in my big storage bay. Never had an issue with them and after the first few weeks, I got so that I didn't run out and check them to make sure they kicked "on" whenever it got down to their "on" temperature. When I was checking them, I found that they always cut on within a degree or two of the 35 degree posted temperature. Don't need them any longer, so, a friend of mine with a bumper pull is going to get the benefit of them.
