Thieves drive away with 3 RVs in one night
Do they leave the doors unlocked and the keys in the ignition?

Back in the day I used to do high-end vehicle security systems. It was my own little side business. Being an avid camper my entire life, I knew where I could generate steady work - MH crowd. I would go to a campground and find just one friendly camper under their awning and make my pitch. Once one bought in, locked everything up tight and when I'd enter the rig and have it fired up within 5 minutes, I'd have at least 6 installs lined up that weekend!
Take it from this old pro, you want a kill switch and not one that's a simple battery disconnect!

can you elaborate on good kill switch design/strategy? I’m an old EE and could probably fabricate one.

The kill switch on my truck requires the cigarette lighter to be removed before it will start. Put it back in and it kills the fuel pump.
I also have a viper so i can start it remotely and leave it running and locked while away from the truck in the summer to keep the dog cool.... It has to have the key in the ignition or it kills the power when you step on the brake pedal.

So being a good guy you installed for the cost of parts?
I do not lock my MH. I do not lock my TOAD. I do not lock my sailboat. I did not lock my houses.
And no I do not pay people who first tell that I should be afraid.
So what is the risk of something bad happening?

On the local news this morning, someone hooked up to a TT at Midstate RV in Byron Ga. last night and drove off.

I see notices of stolen RVs fairly regularly on various forums. It does, indeed, happen. When we had a TT we kept a hitch lock on it. I know that's no guarantee but not locking it sure doesn't reduce the chance of theft.
In the incident at Boynton Beach I can't help wondering how that thief plans to dispose of the units. It's not like a car that'd be easily hidden until everything usable has been removed. Maybe they're being shipped offshore, but you don't exactly drive an RV into a container.

What the heck does this ^ even mean? I've read it over several times and have no idea what message is trying to be conveyed

Im with you
Never had the keys out of the ignition.
Dad was a Doctor. But he said, thats not always Success all in itself.
He told me in the 50s.
Success means different things to different people.
His advice was [emoji106]
Never obligate yourself to live or be,
Physically or Mentally anyplace that you have to lock up.
He and mom never locked the house. On the farm.
In 50 years of marriage we never have locked up.
Nor boats nor rvs or other vehicles.
The keys are in our truck sitting in front of the rv right now, as always.
As some of you that have camped with us know [emoji6]
And no, never had anything missing, and no,
Never expected to.
And yes, everything is insured.
And yes
We have carefully chosen where we reside and made certain that we had the freedom to do so.
For us, thats freedom.
I dont see that its a ( right or wrong ) thing.
Its a mind set .
To each his own.
Personally

Funny they would target lower end gas rvs. They are fairly new mind you. If I was going to steal an rv, it would be a prevost, not a Thor Ace. I don't mean to insult Ace owners, but this seems kind of suspect, especially stealing three that are similar. They didn't have even a Newmar or a Tiffin DP on site that they could have taken. Im going to guess its an inside job.

I wondered the same, and no I'm not insulted; I bought and enjoy what I was willing to pay for but fully realize he could have stolen stuff a lot more expensive.
Or maybe not .... Maybe the person who stole them knows how to quickly hotwire the F53 chassis and is less knowledgeable about diesels
I was very pleased to see, though, that the 2017 ACE was valued at $85,000. I didn't pay anywhere near that brand new. I must have gotten a heck of a deal
