Things I Didn't Understand about my Coach

Being new the RV Class A thing and all, there were some rather embarrassing things I had to learn on our first trip out this Spring.

- Water pressure requires a pump when not hooked to an external water source. I knew this. What I didn't know was that there was a switch *inside* to turn the water pump on. First few days I would head out to the water bay to switch on the pump and wondering why they don't have a switch on the inside.

- One has to turn the inverter on to get 110 in the coach.

- The steps would only retract when the coach was started. There's a switch to have them stay extended except when the motor is on.

- The toilet works better when the water pump is on.

- The steering wheel not only tilts but can be raised and lowered (with a good push).

- The water pump only works if the coach power is turned on. Discovered this while doing you know what.

- Do not get your face too close to a storage bay door while slamming it shut.

- Slide outs only work when the coach engine is not running.

- The gas heater eats propane like crazy.

- Windshield washers spray a lot of water into the lanes next to you. Surprisingly, some drivers recent getting a free car wash.

- Air horns rock!

Most of this pretty harmless although I did have a few uncomfortable minutes in the bathroom figuring out why the water pump would not turn on.

Anyone else care to share?

Newer coaches may not be as bad for this.

No matter how many fuses you find and document as to location ; the one fuse that blows , will be in as yet unknown location.
Currently , 4 locations for chassis fuses and 6 for coach systems.

Nice parks are sometimes cheaper than not so nice.
Everything will eventually rattle.
Everything needs fixing every year.
Construction is every where and too narrow, too long.
Condensation on the inside does not need a dehumidifier, just a roof vent fan or windshield fan on.
No matter how far you park away from smokey fires and loud weekenders they will find you.
Never trust a GPS. MAPS are far more reliable.

If something can go wrong, eventually it will. It's part of the RV adventure! ;-)

Things I Didn't Understand about my Coach

The wind always seemed to be blowing in the opposite direction and everyplace we needed to go, felt as if it was an uphill drive.

We inadvertently packed many extra items, such as 7 umbrellas and 3 rain ponchos. For only 2 people.

Great post and made me smile. Thanks
We are still discovering things about our new coach as well as things we were told wrong info about from the dealer. My wife is so happy she no longer has to push the power switch for the awning till it is full extended and then remove her finger quickly so it does not retract (told to us by the dealer) but now just one push and watch it do it's own thing

Automatic levelers are not automatic and most times have no concept of actually being level.

Sometime the new water pump you ordered and spent three days trying get working doesn't work because it's defective rather than you being incompetent.
