We received a free year when we bought our 5er in July of this year. 30 nights free in our zone. Then $3 / night after that.

We will be staying in the Orlando RV Resort (Clermont, Fl) this coming week. I will be sure to post a review when we return.

Thanks everyone! We've decided to pass on that for the moment!

We've been members since 2008 and we can opt out after 10 years. No "in perpetuity" contracts and besides, you can re-sell at any time (but don't expect to get much for it).

No membership park is worth much if the parks aren't where you want to be, so think carefully. The annual expense is the same whether you use it or not, so you have to spend xx nights/year to at least break even.

Some of the parks are old and only so-so, though they all have club houses, pool, etc. The nicer parks, e.g. Hershey PA or Clermont, FL, are as good as any I've seen anywhere, with good roads, excellent maintenance, plenty of 50A full hook-ups, activities, etc. Most are somewhere in between.

TT "preserves" are generally well away from cities and towns, so if proximity to entertainment and shopping is important, maybe this is not for you. They were designed as places to go spend a week or a weekend "getaway".

If you think TT parks will meet your needs, do NOT buy a new "Elite" membership. Get an annual Zone Pass and try it out. If you like it, look for a resale on Ebay or similar market for pre-owned memberships. You can usually buy one for $1-$100 plus the transfer fee, which is typically around $850 (varies by the type of contract). Some membership contracts have more perks than others, so look around.

Re the costs, our particular contract is for 50 nights @ roughly $565/year, so call it $11/night IF we use all 50. But if we stay only 20 nights, then we ended up at $28/night and its only a so-so deal. And if we have bad year, like when my wife was seriously ill, it's a total loss for the year. Ya gotta use it to make it work.
