How can they ticket an 8'er when it's legal by the state vehicle code?
I believe it's explained very well in the article that I posted a link to.

Link isn't working for me now either, but I think something is wrong with the host site. It was an article posted in the Santa Monica Mirror (http://smmirror.com/) and I can't even get their home page to come up now. Hopefully it's temporary.

OK folks - several posts have been removed from this thread. Please remember that this is a family-friendly site and some of those families live in California. Sweeping generalities about those from CA are bound to offend as is off color language (also removed). See our community rules if you are unsure about the reasons for these edits and why this kind of content is not appropriate.

Help us keep iRV2 polite, positive and welcoming for all - even for those from California

So, they're going to ticket transit buses, delivery trucks, FedEx, UPS etc? Sounds really dumb to me. S-M is another place to avoid.

Pardon my innate skepticism, but....

Googling the key words in this assertion yields only the following two articles having anything at all to do with restricting vehicle heights....
One's in Florence, Oregon
Enforcement Action to Begin for New Parking Restrictions and Prohibitions in Old Town | City of Florence Oregon Official Website
And one's in Venice, California...
Venice Going Ahead With RV Parking Restrictions | Blogging.la

The one in Venice has to do with overnight parking...
Here's one of their signs:

Seems unlikely that there'd be no news account anywhere if the draconian measures alleged about Santa Monica were for real...

Is it possible there's some leg-pulling going on here?

Well said Janet and thank you. I've never understood why some people feel they have to bash someone else's home.

I admit I was born and raised and lived all my life in California, but that does not make me a Californian.
Oh...oh yeah, I guess it does. Damn!

I just re read the posting and I stand by what I said in an earlier post. The way I read it they will allow over-sized vehicles if one obtains a permit. To me this smacks of a tax grab.

Up here in BC, they put in a carbon tax on gasoline and diesel. Supposedly to force people to use public transit.

The closest public transit stop to me is the one located at the shopping plaza where we do 90% of our shopping. So how does charging 90% of the population of the boonies, those who aren't near public transit, anything but a tax grab?

I'm lost??? All it said was that they are restricting the parking of vehicles over five feet tall in certain places, ie: intersections..

How does that translate to 'not allowing..' and 'undesirable RV..'??

Me thinks MANY are OVERREACTING

No wonder I couldn't find anything- in what way does that article bear out the assertions in this, the Thread starter????

The article says no such thing.
