As someone who was in the business 15 years, This is not true. If the tire gets trapped in the suspension and is locked up. What you have is one steering tire completely locked up and one turning freely. The coach will shoot to the direction of the lockup. Thankfully, most of the time, this does not happen.

I started driving trucks for a living in 1968. Over the years, I have experienced several tire failures, but never let a tire problem cause me to crash.

This info from Michelin may be of help for untrained individuals:

My dad was a truck driver for Terminal Transport. He had several blowouts over the years. Never had a problem. Another of their drivers was a guy they called shorty. Shorty had several blowouts, no problem. Finally Shorty had a blowout on the front. The co-driver woke up and said what's wrong Shorty. He said we had a blowout on the front and I can't hold it. They ran off the road and hit a tree. The co-driver went through the windshield and survived. Shorty died. They determined the tire had wrapped around the suspension and caused him to have no control of the truck. I probably should have said this is very rare, but it can happen. I started motorhoming in 1974 with a 1972 Open Road. I have had six blow outs. 2 in front and 4 in the back. Never damaged anything and never had a problem stopping. Almost always a blowout is controllable if you know what to do.
