Tire Monitoring System

I didn't know there were after market tire monitoring systems. These, of course, wirelessly monitor the inflation of all your tires on the motorhome/5th wheel etc. Does anyone know the best system to buy. Thanks

Search feature here will find lots of threads in discussion of TPMS units. To me a must have feature is to be able to check tire oressures on preflight before you move - some won't do this. Do by enough sensors to cover the toad. On the coach you will know about a blowout, but on the toad you won't until somebody flags you down to tell you and you have turn up the rim and maybe more. I am not a fan of flow through sensors - larger and additional parts to go wrong. I rather use small regular sensors, skip any locks or set screws, and treat them like a valve cap.

IMHO

We have the EEZTire TPMS and it seems to work great. It's psi readings are extremely close to two different gauges I use, but of course the main purpose is to monitor for air pressure loss, both sudden and other.

I have TST 507's for three years. No problems and have received great customer support.

I have a TST507. Sensors on my MH and toad for 7 years. It has worked flawlessly with no issues. I changed batteries twice, and it was easy to do.

EEZ-Tire here. Easy install and the readings were identical to, or within 1 psi of my most trusted gauge. I'm with vsheetz on this: "I rather use small regular sensors, skip any locks or set screws, and treat them like a valve cap." Definitely advise against flow-thru for you toad.

After doing a lot of research and reading I ordered the EEZ TPMS. It does everything I need and more.

I do use the anti-theft gizmos on my EEZTire sensors and I've found the supplied tool makes it fast and easy to take them off and put them on when I want to add air and/or use a regular tire psi gauge.

There are several good systems out there. I use the TireTraker. I bought it for the following reasons:

1. At the time, they had the best price for a system to monitor 10 tires, with a repeater in the bedroom closet for better reception from the toad.

2. "Cap" type valve stem sensors which prevent accidental air loss.

3. User-replaceable sensor batteries at low cost.

4. Easy to program and operate.

5. The latest model, TT500, has a lifetime warranty!

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

before you install Tire monitor

I love Tire pressure monitors systems but feel I must warn a possible problem. Make sure the tire you put these on have metal tire valves. The rubber valves are not designed for the extra weight and will crack and leak. It is safe to assume that a motorhome has metal valve stems but many trailers, tow dollies, and cars don't. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
