I am curious on peoples experiences on different Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems. I would like to put a system on my motorhome and trailer which totals 14 wheels. I really don't want to spend the money only to find out its more of a nuisance than helpful. Seems like alot of people end up having issues with faulty sensors that just makes system a waste of time.

Someone will tell you how their monitoring system saved them a blowout or some other costly disaster. However, there's no replacement for walking around your rig and checking not only the tire pressure but for other potential disasters that could be avoided.

My experience I'll relate briefly. During a walk around, checking tire pressure, I noticed the cotter pin on my hitch had either fallen out or someone having a bad day and attitude removed it for a laugh. What would have happened had I relied soly on a monitoring system or my rear view monitor? You take it from there.

Dave's right about the need to be the captain of your ship and do your walk arounds every time you stop. But, I want all the help I can get and I have a TPMS.

Do a search and you'll find countless threads on the topic.

I have used a Doran360 for two years now but wouldn't recommend it at this point. We full time so the sensors have never been off the coach or toad but I've already had 4 fail and it sounds like it's a problem with Doran's sensors. Even with these problems, it's a long way from a waste of money.

If you do a Search with the words Tire Pressure Monitoring, you'll find a whole bunch of threads on the subject - discussing pros/cons, brands...etc. I think you'll find quite a bit of information with the Search.

I totally agree so far and I do a circle check when I stop for fuel but would like some advance notice if a tire is going down. Once I fuel on long trip I can/will go 8-10 hrs without stopping for washroom break and thats when I would like the heads up. Its disappointing that you read alot about people having sensors go bad in such a short amount of time. I know its a different scale but you don't see these issues with the auto manufactures like GM has in their vehicles.

Just one more point. I have a 150 gal fuel tank and an inside bathroom. I have to make myself go out when we stop every 4 hours or so and make that circle. I use the truck driver thump method and a flashlight because I don't even carry a spare.

Actually two points. Unless you push the envelope on the age or tread wear of your tires and you keep them aired up there are not that many tire failures that turn into disasters. Tire people will tell you most failures result in neglect or oversite of air pressure, irregular wear, or some other outward sign of failure.

I use Pressure Pro on my 4 axle offshore boat trailer. When I'm traveling in the MH I use the sensors on my towed P.U.with a repeater in the back of the coach. No amount of money can give you this relief. No more looking for smoke in the monitor! Coach has it's own system. Have had this system 3 years, no problems.

I use this Tire-SafeGuard by GENCO Distributors system.

I chose it because of the flow thru sensors for the MH. I can check the pressure and add air without removing the sensors. It also doesn't require a repeater. It has caught 2 slow leaks in the 2 plus years that I have had it. I have had 2 sensors replaced under warranty.

We use the Pressure Pro system and have had it nearly 6 years now. I have to admit we've had several false alarms for every real ones, but we love the peace of mind knowing that the tires are monitored 24/7.

We think of it as insurance. It's an expensive nuisance until that one time when you are really, really glad you have it.

I have the Pressure Pro and also The NVision from Brake Buddy. They both use the exact same sensors from China just different names on top. They are a lot cheaper to buy the sensors from NVision and they are easier to deal with if you have a problem. Especially with the sensors. Been thru a bunch of them. 2 week turn around time from pressure pro and 3 days from brake buddy. They both work fine.

"Don't leave home without it". All it takes is one tire and you've paid for the system. We had a valve extender starting to leak after we left a campground last summer. I had checked all tires manually and the TSP system was working. 10 miles down the road the alarm went off. The front tire had lost 40 lbs in just 10 miles and would have been a disaster waiting.

6 years with Pressure Pro. So far, same 10 sensors I started with.
No false alarms. Other then needing a reset from going from hot to cold area or vise verses.

I do have the repeater mounted in the bedroom. That stopped the dropped signals.

Pressure Pro customer for 5 years and only a minor problem or two. Same sensors. Great customer service and they are more interested in getting my minor problem fixed than I was. My experience has been they are actually fun to work with.

Does anybody make a TPMS that installs inside the tire like factory car tires? It seams the temperature readings would be more accurate.
