We have been using a small "Shop Vac" brand canister for some time now. I think it's called a roll-a-round. Small but powerful. Fits nicely in the bay. Wet and dry. The wet part worked great when the plumbing fitting under the sink let loose while we were gone. But that's another story. The wet part is a definate advantige. The best part about this vac is that it's MADE IN USA.

We use the Dirt Devil Classic also. It has the power head for dirt and pet hairs. You do have to crawl around to do the floor but there is not that much square footage to do. Stores in a small space.

We had one of those big (heavy) cast aluminum Royal uprights in the stick house. We got fed up of dragging it around, so, based on Consumer Reports, we looked at a Riccar Supralite. It's a single-speed upright, uses HEPA bags that aren't too expensive, weighs about 9 pounds and sucks up Labrador hair like there's nop tomorrow. It's not very big, so you ought to be able to find a place for it in an RV where you need a vacuum cleaner. It's also a US-made product. IIRC, it was about $200, but well worth it.

When we get our next RV, either it goes with us or we get another one for the coach.
