I also am in need of tires next year. What do people do with the good (for trailers) take off tires? They should be good for trade in or sale to truckers. How is that handled?

If your tires are a common size used in trucking, most truck tire shops will buy them from you. If the casings are aged and cracked they will not. If that is the case, I would then put the used tires on Craigs List in hopes a farmer would buy them for a farm truck.

Having tires put on as I'm typing. (6) Michelin XRV 255/80R-22.5. Mounted, balanced and taxes = 3283.00 out the door.

I had six 255/70/22.5 Firestone FS560plus tires put on 10-21-13. All six mounted, balanced, new stems, take old tires, no tax in Oregon, out the door = $2160. I chose not to pay more for another brand, that I will age out before I wear them out (I took 8 year old factory Michelins off my coach with 34K miles on them).

We got our Michelins from Superior Tire in Portland OR before the FMCA deal and they were almost the same price and lower than Les Schwab. The fronts (305/70's) were only about three weeks old and the rears (275/70's) not much older. Les Schwab couldn't even tell me when they would get them in nor the dates on them.
