I have the same problem as you. I never thought to offer her as part of the deal. Interesting idea, Hmmmm, she has a few years to change her mind and I have a few years to see what deal I can close. All things being equal, I will go full time with or without her.

It looks like you will go full time before me. Please post how everything works out.

I count myself as one of the real lucky ones. The wife loves the lifestyle as much as me. I retire at the end of this year, and the wife 6 months later. Then sell the house, load up the dog, and go see whats down the road. Boy I love this country!!

Well..............I think I am going to proceed with the purchase idea.

I think this whole RV'g think has started to get out of hand with me. Here is what I mean:

I started car camping with the wife. Lots of work for just a few days of relaxation.

Went to a Pop Up and the wife just loves it. It is still a little more work, but she doesn't mind it at all.

Well, I wanted to make it even more comfortable by going to a class A, B, C or 5er.

Looked at all of them and I could be very happy with a van conversion. It is wife that wants the King Size bed!!!

There it is again.......the wife. What we won't do to keep them happy.

And now, after reading the post on getting robbed http://irv2.infopop.cc/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/9686094452/m/1701095033 I want to stay in much more remote areas.

So, I will place my efforts on finding a smaller 5er (28-32 feet)and figure out how to get a king bed into it!!

As you all have said.......it is a way of life and I am going chase it with great vigor!!

For myself and the wife we have camped since we first met. We started with a tent moved up to a pop-up and as of now we have a TT. We have 3 children one is 17 and the twins are 6. We are currnetly looking to purchase a MH and should be doing so in the next couple of weeks. We camp because of the love and unity you will find at a campground. I recall one weekend when we where younger and arrived at a CC late in the afternoon. After setting up the pop-up in the rain we where huddled under a blanket under the inclosed picnic area when we where approached by 3 seperate families all carrying their left overs from dinner. They set a table and dished us out some plates smiled and left us to it.

This forum is a perfect representation of what you will find when you go camping.


Does this mean that you should purchase rather than rent. I think you should do what you feel comfortable doing but please go camping.

There are many great USED rigs out there

Best place to look is sites like this and owner forums. You are usually dealing with RVers who have knowledge and take care of their rigs.

You can find any owners forum you want by Google-ing the name of the rig you are interested followed by owners forum or chat

BTW if your wife read this post you may be sleeping in the "dog house" rig !!

I can relate to many of the comments:

I have been on the road with travel for the past 20 years and I have seen every type of hotel/motel you can imagine. I have been robbed at gun point and awakened to gun shots in the middle of the night. I have stayed in the cleanest and nicest places as well.

But, I have never had a conversation with the person in the room next door!

We will continue to camp in our Pop Up while watching all new and inovative changes take place in the RVs.

Best calculation (and to keep the marriage together) it looks like the big purchase time will be November/December 2009.
