Over the last four gas RV's I have owned, I have never run the Engine during the winter storage, just the Gen Set. Now I have a KS Diesel pusher . I added storgae gas additives and winterized it. Now may question. Should I run the engine once a month or so along with the Generator or not?

I wouldn't bother. In fact, unless you are going to run it long enough to really warm up, it could be detrimental.

Running it once a month is of no benefit over not running it at all. An argument might be made for running it every day or two for 20-30 minutes (sort of like normal use), but that's is a bit much to do, eh?

So leave it alone and relax. It will be fine as long as you take care of the batteries and use the fuel stabilizer additive.

I am with RV Roamer. Put her to bed properly and let her sleep.

When an engine runs for a short period of time the case gets hot and water condenses inside. When an engine is run long enough to get hot, the condensation burns off. That's why you either want to run the engine until it's hot or don't run it. Worst is run it long enough to get condensation, but not long enough to burn it off and keep repeating that.

Absolutely correct. Either run it to get the engine to full temperature or let it set.

Thanks to all for the advice. Guess I will just run the Gererator and let the Diesel rest for the winter. Most of the winter the RV will be not be accesable to drive because of the snow. Thanks again.

I run mine at least twice during the winter. Once to get me to Florida and once to get me back.
