Toilet Tissue

I知 certain that this question will indubitably rub someone wrong, so I apologize in advance. I am curious what people use for toilet paper in their RV. Do you use regular residential toilet paper or do you buy special RV toilet paper?

Any residential TP that states "septic tank safe" or something to that effect

Only thing 'special' about RV TP is the PRICE

We use same TP that she buys for the S&B
I like 2 ply...soft cushiony and a big wad of it

In almost 50 yrs of camping/RVng that is all that I have used and Haven't plugged up an RV toilet/black tank YET (plugged a couple S&B residential toilets and a few occasions) but not an RV toilet

Course all nine have been gravity drop toilets....none of them fancy vacuum types or ones with a macerator. Probably could clog up one of them
But gravity drop.......3" line to tank and 3" line out of tank. That takes some doing to clog up\
Which could happen if one is chinchy using enough water to flush solids/TP down and into tank
Before flushing toilet....add water to fill the bowl then flush and let water run a second before closing off ball valve

STUFF needs to be pushed down and into tank.

Leave the black tank dump valve CLOSED until tank is FULL before dumping
Weight/volume of liquid will cause that WHOOSH effect when you open dump valve and carry the STUFF down/out
After dumping, close valve and then add couple of full toiletbowls back into tank so bottom stays wet and nothing dries out

That's my Toilet/Tank 101 basics

Do the toilet paper test. Fill a glass with water and put a sheet or two of TP in it. If it dissolves after a while, it's good for RVs, if not, don't use it.

The question keeps coming up..... JMHO is that if the non-RV stuff works for you, good deal. We have a friend that refused to buy the RV version and said that she would use septic tank safe paper that she used at home. First stop on her long trip west she was looking for a WalMart to buy the RV paper because, yes, her system was clogged. We use the RV version purchased on Amazon. One less thing to deal with to me. The fewer the problems, the better. But then again, if what you have works for you, good.

This is a perfect example of someone who did not maintain their tanks properly long before they set out on a trip.

I guess that is possible. It was a brand new purchase and her first time out.

If it was going to rub somebody wrong it would have done it the first dozen times this question was asked.

You can't rub me wrong if you use 'Charmin'. That's what I use and have been using for years. Never had a problem but I use a lot of water and am fussy about draining and flushing my tanks.

And who probably did not use nearly enough water with every "use". It is much easier to dump a full black tank a day earlier than to deal with a clog...
