Toned Wire Tracer

Does anyone use a wire tracer that gives at tone?

Brand name or where to get one without breaking the bank.

Trying to track some hidden wires for solar panel connection that disappear thru bay inner wall and into the unknown.

Any information will be appreciated.

Thank you.

UNI-T UT25A UT25A/B Automatic Circuit Breaker Finder Socket Tester with LED Indicator
for about $23 (including shipping)

I figure its worth a try.

I bought this one a couple of months ago. It did the job I bought it for (tracing coax from the back to front cabinet) plus I've used it for a couple of other jobs. I see the price on Amazon has gone up almost $10 since I ordered.

I have been happy with one from Harbor Freight. About $20 with coupons. Search cable tracker on their website. Take batteries out when not in use.

What I'm looking for is a tester that I can attach to the end of a wire (10ga) and trace it thru walls and behind cabinets. I saw one on Amazon but, wow, $177.

Some of the bundles I'm trying to trace thru are 2 inches in diameter and run parallel other big bundles.

Harbor Freight might do the trick.........I hope.

Thanks for the replies.

the ones shown by others here are all decent units.
the best way to track a wire using any of them is to disconnect the wire from the circuit at the end you are connecting the tool to, and if you know where the other end is, disconnecting it also will eliminate any possible backfeeding, which can cause confusion as to what circuit your really tracing... they are great tools for following the path of the wire and for finding short circuits.
any unit without the capability to emit a sound is not a preferred model.
