Too good to be true?

Yesterday I stumbled across this site listing several RVs for sale. I was surprised at some of the sale prices. I'm leary of scams. Has anyone heard of them?

Those prices seem pretty average to me. It's not one guy either, it's a site like Craigslist so each listing is a different person. I do see a couple that are very low priced and those particular listings could be scammers though.

There was a guy on Craigeslist last month, had listed several MHs for sale - fairly new ones (2009+) for $2,000 each.

I contacted him and asked for more info on one of them, thinking there had to be a catch - maybe they were salvages that had survived flood or fire? or perhaps he was a bank reposessor just trying to get them out of his hands. I have seen such listings before, and such listings are usually authentic, but usually you are getting a new MH with a huge amount of repairs needed (basically a parts cars).

Anyways I contacted the guy and asked for more info on a 2010 Tioga for $2,000. He emailed me back, asking me to send him a check for $2,000, told me that he lived in Mass, but that the MH was in a storage unit at a jetport in NY, and he was actually giving it away free, just needed me to pay the jetport $2,000 in delivery charges, than stated that the jetport would ship it to me for free.

???

Well if that don't scream scam I don't know what does, but now he had me curious as to what was going on. And as it happened, the photos in the listing, were clearly those from a car dealer (you could see the other cars for sale behind it) and one photo was a close up shot of the VIN, so I Googled the VIN and the first search result was to an RV dealer in NY, who WAS in fact selling this MH, only for $7,500 on eBay and on his dealership website, all the same photos, and description, except for the parts about the damage and such (turns out it was in fact a salvage car that's why it was so cheap).

I contacted the eBay seller and told them about the Craigslist guy. I don't know what happened after that, but a few hours later, all the Craigslist guy's listing were removed and his account "deleted for posting scam listings".

Scary the things people can think of to do to trick others out of money!

A 2008 Fleetwood Providence 41' diesel with 10738 miles, and fully loaded, "in great condition".
And the price is $14,400!!!!
I don't believe it.
And some of the other prices are just as bizarre.
Something just smells bad.

It's people like this who are causing me so much grief trying to sell my Bridge in Brooklyn.

We need stronger policing of Internet Scammers.

Late last week, I saw a couple of these same coaches on a western state Craig's List...they were later flagged and pulled within an hour or so. Look up the word "scam" in your Webster's and you will see the same coaches pictured there. Amazing, really....

Always ask to have them email you a copy of both sides of the title as well as the registration. If they won't provide you with that walk away. They don't own the unit. Seeing both sides of the title shows it's clear or not and who owns it. As well as seeing registration.

Somebody, somewhere will bite on one of these, sight unseen, and send them money for one of these bargains. Whether its a "down payment" or full price, all profit to the scammer.

Hard to believe, in this day and age, but thieves are always inventive and folks are still gullible and/or greedy.

Not real sure but it reaches from one side to the other and a little bit further.

Doesn't need trusses, it went on a strict diet about 25 years ago.
