We just spent a few days at Great Smoky Mountains National Park at the Elkmont Campground and its loaded with trees and shade and at a higher elevation. It was a very nice place to camp.

We were headed out for Ashland KY to get out of the Fl. heat when I got bit by a brown recluse spider. We had to return home. Today it's 92* here, feels like 94* and 105* in Ashland and feels like 125* ! Glad we are not there. This weather is crazy... Pretty soon everyone will come to Fl in the summer to get out of the heat.

We were at Elkmont also (June 11-16) and yes, Gatlinburg is at 1500' elevation, Elkmont is at 2100'. Being in the woods and with a cool running stream next to your campsite makes all the difference. Walking the streets in Gatlinburg you would melt if you were on the sunny side of the street. It was in the middle 90's and maybe low 80's degrees back at Elkmont or anywhere else inside the Smoky's. Today thru Sunday Gatlinburg is forecasted to be in the low 100's

Just left the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia and even at 3500 ft. it was hot and humid between Noon thru 5PM (and lots of Gnats). It cooled off nicely at night.

OMG! Too cold Bless the Pacific northwest

We might get to 90 today, and I can guarantee people are swimming in pools and lakes everywhere, and have been since morning (which started in the mid 50s)

Thank goodness we can all pick our preferred climate.

Crrently 94 here at home in South Georgia. Temps have been being high 90's to over 100. Those temps coupled with high humidity, are tough. But, on the up side we are getting some rain fairly regularly and for that most of us are truely thankful. Speaking of gnats, if anyone here does not feel they have enough, let me know and I will send you a few billion. They are as bad as I can remember in a long time. same for their little biting kin folk, skeeters.
