I drove by these Airstream trailers with their front ends buried in the dirt and leaning at an angle on Monday and thought it looked trashy...... then I saw a story in the Tampa Tribune this morning.

What do you think, art or trash?

There's no accounting for taste, but I don't think it's art.

Several years ago that dealership had a RV hoisted in the air by a crane for an advertising gimmick.

It may not be art, but it's doing what it was intended to do - that is to attract attention.

I stay right behind Bates RV at Tampa East and yes the locals are really ticked off over the Trailers.
Last year he had plywood cows in the pasture with messages on them some said Save Moola buy at Bates.
When county told him to remove the ads from the pasture or pay a fine he tried to get some local cattle and paint the ads on them. Hmm would that be a moving billboard.
When I said to the DW look at the art she said, I better get my eyes checked.

Its a knock off of the one famous art piece done with Cadillacs in a similar fashion.

Exactly! It's an unimaginative attempt to duplicate "Cadillac Ranch", just outside of Amarillo, TX. Then again, promotional stunts usually aren't to closely related to "art".

For what it's worth - lot's of people stop at Cadillac Ranch to take a look - we did.

No matter what we all think, it had the desired result, lots of free advertisement.

Last winter we spent at Tampa East, and I can tell you all, that whomever know Bates, Knows he will do anything for attention. I am sure that is the big topic of discussion around the campgorund there!

Read & Learn, if you see any of the staffer's at the campground, say Hi for me! especially if you see Jim & Vern around.

It has been about 30 years since I have been past "Cadillac Ranch". Even then they were pretty badly vandalized with grafitti. I wonder how bad they look now? Anybody got a recent picture?

It's doesn't really look good even if you were an art critique.
It's a copycat of Cadillac Ranch in Texas and not a very good copy. Ed.S
