Trailer wreck on I79 Sutton WV

This information was told to me by a friend of mine who was about five cars behind this accident. He is a retired fire chief.

Around Sutton WV the highway may a sharp turn to the right. The truck pulling a travel trailer made the turn and the slide come out. The slide hit a bridge pillar which in turn tore the slide off the trailer and caused the trailer to flip on it's side and coming free from the tow. A lady following wrecked into the slide. She had to be cut out of her car with the jaws of life. She was airlifted from the seen. No injuries for the folks in the pickup.

My friend pulled over and helped until rescue arrived.

So the salesman was wrong when he said I didn't need to use the blocking bar to hold the slide in when traveling?

If your RV has slide lock bars, I would definitely use them. That's what they are for.
