Just drove across the southern US and was disgusted at the number of full [moderator edit] bottles littering our great highways. They might be in a hurry but they do need to fill up on fuel. Have they not heard of a trashcan at the truckstop? I pity the poor highway cleanup crew usually sponsored by volunteer organizations.

They are called Trucker Bombs, and they have enough fuel to go a loooooong way between fuel stops.
Just passing on what I know.....

the edited word is urine. trucker bombs huh? lets see what the "dont mess with texas" littering campaign has to say about it. I should have taken pictures that would make a stronger case.

Pretty disgusting. I first saw these 'bombs' last year driving from oregon into California.

Before this thread goes completely in the toilet I just want to say that this is more the exception than the rule. Having spent over 40 years as a Professional Driver I can tell you that the majority of drivers view this as a disgusting habit.

Product (?) also needs to be handled as hazardous waste, might also add in diapers and other discards 2 or 3 feet from a garbage can. As a native born Californian I swear we lead the nation in B.S. and dirty roads.

And if you think that is disgusting, some of the rigs have a hole cut in the floor and don't use a bottle. They don't stop until they need fuel.

I think we are a bit side tracked although "trucker bombs" was an interesting diversion. They simply cannot account for the amount of debris and trash on our freeways and in our towns. Shamefully many folks just do not respect and appreciate the beauty of our country enough to take personal responsibility not to litter.

Years ago some first lady of the USA set about to clean it up. Was that Nancy Reagan, "keep it beautiful"? From that we did make vast improvement. We still see remnants of that effort with road signs indicating some group or person has pledged to keep a certain milepost area cleaned. Every once in a while you see crews out picking up litter. I am pleased but stunned to see just how much they have picked up. It is a worthwhile effort.

But if we each do our part it ends; this sentiment earns me the annual naive award from IRV2

I leave no litter, ever. It is that simple. The problem is I find myself cleaning up after others as well. But I am proud to do my part.
