Travel assist - information forum

I have been on this site for a while now and wonder if there is a particular forum here to allow folks to check on road conditions and issues on a timely basis that could help in avoiding certain situations. For example, I use a similar site to this for traveling by boat called active captain, on that site there is a place for very up to date information regarding travel concerns, i.e. misplaced bouys, shoaling in waterways and near inlets, mis-marked channels, floating debris, bridge closings, marinas closed for repairs, etc.

I would find it very helpful to know about construction delays, road closings, bridge repairs (causing lowered clearance), broken pavement, alternate routes, repairs underway, closed gas stops at exits, etc. I keep thinking this would be a great forum for that, while traveling in the RV I would access something like this daily as I travel, just as I do when traveling on the boat. It is incredibly helpful.

Not sure it there is a spot for this already, but if there is I have missed it so far.

Just a thought

I don't think there is a forum here specifically for that. I do see some road comments from time to time in General Discussion, though.

Good idea, why not?

Ex: I35 from exit 70 to exit 50 near Lakeville, Mn. experiencing severe delays due to construction.

Knowing all those things in advance would take the fun out of it.

I love "Road Construction Ahead" signs, etc. Any more I just plan on road construction anywhere I go in the summer.

Every state I've gone through has a website that attempts to give current conditions, however it isn't perfect.

And, in any case, I probably wouldn't know how to avoid a problem area so I just go with the flow.

Crossroads Forum

As mentioned, posts asking about road conditions are answered there by members; however, they may not be the most current info unless a member has recently traveled a route being asked.

Each state has their own road conditions website. That would be the best place for the most up-to-date information.

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?
