I'm, I'm a bit confused. RT 66? US 66? It doesn't go to NH. I95 does go all the way but it is the city route and has a lot of traffic. There are other routes. But they will take more time.

Not that we understand what you need...

I drive from NJ to FL pretty much every 1-2 months.

From I-81, you'll save some time/miles by turning off on Rt. 50 (VA Exit 313A) and following that east to Paris, VA. At the stop light, you make a right and get onto Rt. 17 (watch your speed on this section).

17 will lead you to I-66 for a short time and then you turn off I-66 to stay on Rt. 17. In Opal, VA you will make a left to stay on 17 which will lead you to I-95. Then its a strait shot to FL on 95 (which is now open in NC after the hurricane).

I'm also from NH. We only made the trip once but if I remember it right, on our way south on 81 we took 77 from southern VA to 26, to 95 with no problems. On our way home we took 95 to 17 to 66 to 81. We liked both routes and just for the sake of variety, will probably do the same this winter.

I went down I-84, I-81, I-77, I-26, I-95 a few weeks ago with no issues. The motorhome was stored in Fl and drove toad back I-95. As usually, the nasty roadway start just south of Richmond VA. My recommendation is to travel I-81 to I-77 and by-pass the rough roadways

Travel from NH to FL

Gully..... First of all, Welcome to iRV2!! This place is loaded with folks who will help you. You've come to the right place.

A tip: when asking about or talking about routes and roads, it helps to be as accurate as you can be.
Instead of just calling everything "route 22" or "route 95", look at the little symbol that shows on the map

and distinguish between Interstate, US Highways, and State roads. That way folks can figure out what you're asking!
Again, Welcome, and Good Luck!

It's only about 8-9 miles from the I-66 Exit 23 to Rt. 50 through some beautiful VA countryside.

I drive that route with a 40' DP pulling a Jeep and I'll be through there again probably in about a week.
