Travel Trailers
Hello! I'm new to this forum and like all the helpful information it provides. I have a question: What are some of the top name brand campers to buy? We have a Jayco, JayFlight travel trailer right now, and like it, but would like to upgrade for a few reasons. I'm looking for a travel trailer that is well built and rated highly. Could anyone help me out? Thank YoU!!

If your on the left coast or close, Northwood and Outdoor both make good trailers. Both names are part of the same family based i LaGrande,OR that produce good trailers on their own frames. Otherwise Lance seens to have a good reputation.

Better to start your own post than to Hijack someone else's. Less people will see it.

East of the Mississippi you have Winnebago's and Lance. Both are somewhat of a more solid build, but also tend to be under 28'.
You also have an Airstream, but at $100k for a 30' floorplan, it is out of most peoples price range. That was why the large Winnebago trailers didn't sell because they were to $$$$ much of the market, so that is why over the last 5 years, they have eliminated most of their higher end longer travel trailers over 30'.
Lance up to 23' 6" (floor length) and Winnebago. Winnebago has been really playing with the model lines the last 5 years. I believe their Instinct line has been folded into the new Minnie Plus line. So again most floorplans in the Minnie Plus, Minnie, Micro Minnie and the Minnie Drop are under 28'.
I find this Very misleading where one manufacture lists RV trailer lengths in "Floor length" ( size of the box only like Lance) and others in "Exterior length" (total length hitch to bumper). So be very careful of that if your looking to stay in a certain length.
As far as price, both of these can be easily 50% more than a Jayco, or twice the price of a "cheapO" trailer of the same length.
West of the Mississippi (mostly Denver and westward) you have Arctic Fox (Northwood) and Outdoors RV. On both of these one thing that stands out is they are "heavy". Built like a tank...(EX. 30' Jay Feather 5200lbs a 30' Arctic Fox 25W 6900 lbs. As far as price, your looking at maybe 50%+ more than the price of a Jayco of the same length..

I have a Northwood Manufacturing trailer and have been very happy with it so far, Nash 25c.
I'd also throw Grand Design out there as well, they are highly rated.

This is purely anecdotal, but I hope it helps. My neighbor bought a new Jayco last year and sold it a two months ago after dealing with several problems. He then bought a new Winnebago. Loves it. Before we bought a MH, we had a Keystone Bullet Premier. Cheaply built with a few problems after we bought it new in 2014. Would not recommend one, but you get what you pay for.

I would suggest buying a very good brand of fiberglass sided trailer, and try buy a unit that fully serves your current and future needs--so you won't have to trade up in the future.
We purchased a Grand Design Reflection fifth wheel trailer which is from the fastest growing new company in the industry. The founders recently sold out to Winnebego but remain in control. They're especially customer driven.

I think that this is a subjective question like, which is a better built truck Ford, Chevy or Toyota. Honestly if I read all these posts about issues people have with their trailer/Motorhomes we would not ever had bought one. Having said that we did buy a Hideout have been very happy with it but I feel like I must have been one of the lucky ones. Wish you luck in your next purchase and many happy camping excursions.
