Trip report Yellowstone / Glacier
Hi all, try to be brief
2001 30' Gulfstream C, E450, Michelin XPS Rib, Pressure Pro TPMS, metal stems, Helwig heavy rear bar, Bilstien HD all corners, 5 deg caster, align and balance at trip weight, drove great.
5,360 miles from Aug 23 to Sept 09, 8.7 mpg cruising at 55 to 60 mph. $3.689 / gal avg.
Salt Lake City KOA - street construction not too bad, offered late checkout, free shuttle to Temple Square. In and Out Burger heading north on I15. Rt89 to Bear Lake and Bear Lake overlook outstanding
Jackson Hole dinner at Millon $ Cowboy Bar and on to Gros Ventre.
Walked out of shower nex morning to confront young moose, several exploring campground.
Float Snake River and on to Old Faithful Inn (old house) for one night.
Next, Fishing Bridge, Hayden Valley, grizzy bear feasting on elk carcus on the way, what a traffic jam, rangers doing a great job of crowd control.
Canyon village (2 nights) Uncle Tom's stairway, brink of upper falls and lower falls. Lamar Valley tour (bison, pronhorn, wolf, eagles), Next day, Norris Geyser Basin.
On way to Manmouth Hot Springs looped back through Lamar Valley on our own, not dissappointed, lunch at Roosevelt Lodge Tower Junction (try the beans)
Manmouth Hot Springs, elk walking the street, hot springs sort of a bust, pretty dried up.....
On to Glacier NP, stayed at Glacier Meadows to catch the Red Bus for Going to the Sun 8 hr loop trip (our host, Steve the jammer) WOW, dress warm with the top down the views are terrific but it's "open air".
On to Little Bighorn National Monument with a stop at Eddie's Corner near Moore MT. Keep your tank topped off, there's not always gas around the corner. ND, Minn, Iowa, Ill, Ind and home.
Talked this trip to death for 5 years now I wonder why we waited. I'll be boring people for years reliving the days
