Trip to Arizona

I'm going to take a 10 or 12 day trip to Arizona in March or April.I will take I-20 west and hit I-10 and stay on it till I come to 95 at Quartzsite then go north to Parker and maybe on up to Laughlin.

What are some good things to stop and see on that route?
Where are some good camp grounds along I-10?
Where are some good camp grounds on AZ-95?

Thanks in advance
Stanley

If you're planning to see what goes on in Quartzsite in March or April you may be disappointed. January is the time to be there. It's starting to get hot in March/April even along the river.

Quartzsite may be clearing out all the snow birds in March. You may not have a place to park your RV for a full service hook ups. If you do find one it would be at a premium price. It is a ghost town during the summer and a thriving metropolis during the winter. Flagstaff is a pretty town and the Grand Canyon is just right up the road from there.

Looks like an awesome trip Andy, some really great pictures.I'm really not going to Quartzsite,i'm just turning there to head up 95,I thought the trip along the river might be nice.
Would April be a better time to go?

The weather is a crapshoot in the spring. We were delayed on our trip out by snow just west of Fort Worth (FEB). We spent 2 days near the end of March in Flagstaff and the weather was very good. A few days after we left, flagstaff was hit by a snow storm.

Flagstaff was a neat town. We visited Sedona from Flagstaff. I is a scenic drive to Sedona. Sedona reminded me of Gatlinburg except they had jeep tours instead of shows.

We went from Phoenix to Boulder on 93. We really enjoyed the ride.

Laughlin and Las Vegas are so dry that the weather doesn't matter much.

Going home, we went south from Holbrook, AZ to Deming, NM on 180. That was a great ride.

We drove from Las Cruses, NM to Strawn, TX on 70 - 82 - 180. anything to stay off of I-10/I-20.

Andy

We have made that trip several times in the last 4 years, with Parker/Lake Havasu as our destination. We especially enjoyed River Island State Park north of Parker. There are 3 state parks within 30 miles, one on Lake Havasu and two on the river near Parker.

On the trip out and back, we have stayed several times at Cochise Terrace RV Resort in Benson, AZ. They have long pull-throughs for overnighters. We have also stayed at the Van Horn KOA a few times.

Stayed at River Island in Parker, and in Buckskin National Park as well. I would recommend making reservations at either, my preference was Buckskin.

If you are a golfer, take in a round at Emerald Canyon (make reservations). Lovely course even if you are an intermediate golfer.

At Laughlin, we stayed across the river in Bullhead City at Davis Camp Park. A lot of history in this older camp park when it was the first stop on Route 66 when it hit the Colorado River. We stayed one year down by the river in the unserviced sites and it was nice. The serviced sites up top have some road noise from the highway.
