Tripping from Nor Cal to Ak

Hey all,
My wife and I and our furkids will be going on our first month long trip since retiring. We will be headed to Arkansas to hunt for diamonds and we will be stopping in Quarsite Arizona to do some metal detecting for gold. My question is does anyone have any spots of interest on this route to check out in AZ, NM, TX, OK, and AK etc..We have traveled to NM to do the Billy the Kid route and Tomestone AZ several years ago. We are new to gems and rock hunting but we are enthusiastic about it. Also any fishing spots along the way would be cool. We are leaving the last week in April trough May. Funny my family is originally from OK, TX and LA but everyone seems to have moved on or is no longer with us.. Looking forward to going on this trip..any sugestions would be greatfull..

Thanks
