TST-507RV Tire Monitoring System
I'm considering buying the above unit for my 38' camper and SRW F-350. My question is directed to those with a similar rig and experience with the tst product. Will I need to also purchase the optional amplifier for installation in the camper? Thanks in advance.

I had to buy a repeater for a shorter trailer than yours. I don't know if the problem is distance, shape, materials or interference. You can order a repeater later if needed. I mounted mine in the front storage of the trailer.

We looked at that model, but decided against it because of the possible need for a repeater. We ended up with the Tire-Safeguard specifically because it didn't need one. Our rig is 40-foot plus toad so definitely bigger than yours, but the range of the TPMS is great.

We are using that model with a 33' class A towing a Ford Ranger. It works well for us without an amplifier...if we remember to change the battery in each sensor at least once a year.
Unless I needed a TPMS ASAP I would try it without the amp.
Their customer service is great also.

I just purchased the 507RV along with the amplifier. I liked the 507 unit because a. it locks onto the wheel with a provided tool preventing theft......b. The user can also replace the batteries when required.......We have a 37 ft 5er. We did two trips without the amplifier and the unit performed perfectly without signal loss. I'm sending the amplifier back. I dealt with Mike when figuring out which unit to buy and he immediately texted or emailed me back with answers to questions. So far, very good customer service. The instructions for setting up the systems is easy to understand and I completed the set-up in 15 minutes.

While I don't tow and can't speak to the need for a repeater I have the TST 507. One feature I really like is that you can hard wire it into the ignition side for power and leave the TST system turned off. When you turn the key on the TST system will power on and when you turn the key off the TST system will power off. If you want to check pressures without turning the ignition on you just turn the TST system on and turn it off when done.

Try it first without repeater, some need it, some do not. Our 43 ft coach never needed the repeater, however our friends 39 ft does.

FWIW, I bought a 510 TST system and the repeater was included in the kit, if by "repeater", we're talking about an antenna with a long cord that can be mounted far aft of the driver's seat.
One major advantage of any TPMS came to light yesterday for us. I'd just had all 6 tires replaced and when I got home and mounted the sensors, it became apparent that one tire wasn't holding air and was 25psi low already
If we had gone on a trip, it might not have ended well, so thanks to any and all types of TPMS.

If you have not checked into the EEZ RV tpms you should take a look. After having Doran - never again, TST I went with EEZ. By far the best I have had in 14 years of owning a motorhome.

I didn't need the repeater until I put sensors on the toad. Then it was mandatory. Prior to that, I had the occasional drop out on the rear duals but it wasn't often enough to make me want the repeater. Now, having had the repeater, I wish I'd just bought the thing outright. I plug it into the Winnebago provided 12v outlet next to the sink and it works perfectly. I never have a drop out on any of the sensors - coach or toad.

Jim I don't know if you need the amplifier or not but wanted to pass on a word of advice. If you buy the amp. do not get sucker d into buying the warranty as I did, as stated in another post I bought a $50 warranty on a $50 part.

Useing the same system on my Georgtown towing a jeep wrangler with no
Problems . In fact the monitor picks up the signal when I park the jeep in
the garage 100ft away ! The DW came into the garage the last time to let
me know the moniter was beeping showing the left front tire wasn't there. And
You can't beat ther customer service . As we were getting ready to leave on a
trip And I was having trouble with twoof sensors. Called customer service
told them my problem and that I was leaving in four days. They overnighted
two new sensors atno charge to me. Now that is service !

Very good system, good CS. Only issue I've had is the sensors won't work on my inside duals with valve extensions. They TST will be at the National Rally and I'm sure they will figure it out! Talk with Mike.

For my 40' MH with toad I needed the repeater for the 507 system. I installed mine in the ceiling headliner in the bedroom where the CO monitor is located. I tapped into the existing 12V circuit and was able to stuff the small antenna back up into the opening. The monitor was put back in and nothing shows.
