This happened Thursday night in Our Storage Facility. No one was hurt, but the people with the Open Road can't be happy! It WAS an older TT, 16-18 footer.

Glad to hear no one was hurt but would be interested in knowing what caused the fire. Hopefully, the owners of the Open Road do not have to fight insurance adjusters to make things right.

FatDog, I think your right. I've been doing some checking, they have caught this guy "living" in his TT from time to time & obviously kicked him out. I think he left in a hurry on day/night & left either the furnace or the Dometic (recall "not repaired") Fridge on & poof! Also NO one saw the fire 911 was NEVER called!! This I don't understand because it's about 500-600yds. from a Major Highway????

Next time, they should send the camper out with its owner.

The problem with most of these RVs is, once they ignite they flash like tissue paper ! I don't believe if ya called 911 when it first started they could made any differance. A word of caution to Yall, (CARRY GOOD FIRE EXTINGUISHERS) if something happens you are probably the only one who can save your RV.

PS, your right, the trailer should have left when the guy got caught, now look what he has done. I believe the rental people were negligent here. Get a good Philadelphia Lawyer.

I have seen mobile home and RV fires in the past and realize there is limited time to take action. There are only three things that can't be replaced inside our motorhome: Betty, Bailey and myself. I will assure you the extinguisher will be empty as I call my insurance carrier detailing our losses but I will not take any excessive risk to mitigate damages to the RV.

A good plan Tom. When I was a fireman, the national average for a mobile home(not a smaller RV) to go from ignition to fully ingulfed was 6-10 minutes.

I can't give it up without a fight, and knowing when to retreat is the key to longevity

My extinguisher will be empty but there are to many things that can sneak up on you during the battle...LP gas, gasoline, compressed air. No need to kill myself fighting for something that can be replaced with a stroke of the pen.
