Hello Fellow RV'ers,

I will be purchasing a class A motorhome and would appreciate advice on whether to purchase the TV or purchase cabinet space instead.

The motorhome will have two TV's located elsewhere inside the coach.

Appreciate any advice as to when I would use this TV verses the other two TV's that are in located in the bedroom and the behind the passenger seat.

That is a decision you will have to make. If there are two TVs elsewhere, why would you need a third?

What brand and model are you referring to?

It was standard equipment on my coach. If I had the choice to purchase it as an option, I would probably pass. The only time I use it is if I am seated at the dining table and facing forwards without a view of the other TV. In some setups it is possible to have two TV's on so that persons on both side if the dining table have a TV in their view. Also, I know some folks who run their NAV system on the front TV while driving so that passengers can see it.

Hi Tony! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

I removed the old CRT TV from above the dash, converted that to cabinet space, installed a 43" LED TV on a remote-controlled motorized mount behind the couch. We can sit in our recliners directly in front of it and enjoy! Have fun and keep her between the ditches!

The television over the front windshield of the coach is put there for you to bang your head into as you get into the driver's seat.

Ask me how I know. You'd think a person would learn that but I'm a slow learner.

One of the first things we did was to remove the TV above the windshield and move it. I made a cabinet that holds maps and such plus the wiring for the rear cam is in there with some other stuff. I do not know who wants to sit on the coach and turn their head 90 degrees all night. IMHO a TV over the windshield is as useless as a spare with no air.

I have a TV over the dash in a cabinet. It's mounted on a wall rack so I can turn it from side to side, up or down. I very seldom watch it unless the weather is too bad to be outside. I have a smaller TV I carry out and place on the picnic table so I can watch local and National news casts. I am really high tech with my antenna set up. A $20.00 pair of rabbit ears works just fine.
When the grandchildren are along they watch the inside TV using the built in DVR player if the weather is bad. Otherwise they are outside doing things they can't normally do at home.
No satellite to bother with and get mad at when it doesn't work properly.

I think this is a concept left over from the tube tv days when you needed the depth of a cabinet to mount it. An idea that should be retired due to obsolescence! With flat panels, you can mount them almost anywhere and have much better visibility without craning your neck to watch.

When I was looking at a Tiffin Bus it was an option to have a TV or cabinet overhead. If I ordered one I was going with a cabinet. I ended up buying a used Winnabego that came with a cabinet. I have a TV above the fireplace on a swing arm so I can sit on the couch or the kitchen table and watch. The cabinet above is filled with all my DVDs.

It probably depends on your floorplan and your preferences. We have a tv in the living area, and one over the windshield. When we sit opposite each other at the dining table, I watch one and my wife watches the other. (Same channel).

We’re not big tv people so we ordered our Canyon Star without a tv over the dash. We thought it was a cleaner look with cabinets only. It was an $1172 ,msrp,
option that we knew we wouldn’t use. Neither did we order the outside tv. One in the living area and another in the bedroom is more than sufficient for us.

We have a 40" above the dash and a 50" that comes up from behind the fireplace in the main living area. The way the seating is setup, we watch the front TV 95% of the time. So it depends on your floorplan and how you watch TV.

Kine came with 3 TV's, one above the front window, one in the salon facing the front and one in the bedroom. When the slides are in the salon one is pretty much unusable. To see it you pull it out and then it blocks the passage way so the front one comes into use.
