My wife said she thought that might be the case too, but since it said unattended rather than anything about the dog being outside, I went with the literal meaning.
Good to hear all these replies about everyone else leaving the dogs and that sometimes, dogs actually bark!
We're going to do a little test run by leaving a cell phone inside with them open to our other cell phone and then going away for an hour or so and see what they do. Love the idea of a camera in there. There's a temp gauge you can get that tells your cell phone?
Thanks for the barking collars link. I think I might try that one.

Here is now we handle it.
We have 2 ten pound brothers who do play and sometimes bark. Our procedure anytime we leave them, whether a few minutes or a few hours is this:
1. They almost always are put in the bedroom with the A/C and the TV on.
2. When I take them out for a last pee and come inside and open the treat box, they beat me into the bedroom & up on the bed.
3. They get their treats & I turn off the light and close the door. The night shades are pulled.
If they bark when inside the coach, it's almost always in response to a noise outside. With the air & TV on they don't hear any noise that they react to.
They are now so imprinted with this routine that it's no big deal.

We've developed the same strategy using all the same logic, but ours are allowed the entire coach. They don't hear, or see, anything to bark at.

Have to agree with what most forum members have posted. We have traveled the last two and a half years with our two girls. They at times do bark but generally that's when were with them both inside and outside the coach. That's their job, to protect us. Although they would not harm anyone, they are babies and very gentle. The TV works miracles as we leave they instantly go to sleep and are in the same spot when we return. They are never left alone more than three hours and never outside, never. Also, think about the issue of a power outage should the CG have an one! This has happened several times and we return with the generator running. Hopefully all have some system to deal with this deadly situation?

We are currently staying next to a "yapper" that barks constantly when left alone. While somewhat annoying, we haven't complained, but understand why other neighbors might. One good thing: usually such insecure dogs are the smaller breeds and aren't as loud as large dogs.
Luckily our 90 lb. lab/hound dog is not a barker, however we do take him with us whenever possible... eat on patios a lot. Still surprised at the acceptance of dogs in more and more places. We too only leave him alone for short periods.

I've been interested in remote cameras myself. What model camera is being used, and what kind of system is it running off of?

Me too. I'm also interested in what Clayobx was saying about coming back to the generator running. You mean you have some kind of failover so the generator starts up automatically if the CG power goes out? How do you do that? I've just had mine for a month and I'm still learning the systems.

Automatic Generator Start (AGS) systems are fairly easy to install. See Cummins Onan RV Generator Energy Command AutoStart Control for an example.

I use the D-Link cameras, DCS 942L & DCS 932L, but there are many on the market. D-Link has a free cloud setup with the cameras so that I can stream them through my Verizon MiFi internet connection and view them on my iPhone. The MiFi has the WPS feature so that you can just push a button on the camera and connect the camera to your MiFi network, easy peasy.
Oh, and the picture is clear enough that you can put a reasonable size thermometer in the view and be able to read it.

We have traveled all over the US with our two pups and not had an issue yet. As many have noted, we never leave them unattended outside the coach. We will take them in the car with us if we are going somewhere that is dog friendly like a dog park or some place where they can be outside having fun with us. Sometimes we find a shady spot and sit in the car with them and read books and they watch the world or just sleep.
Most times, we leave them in the coach while we sight see and do other things. We take them for a nice walk, give them a treat, leave the TV on and close most of the shades. We have never had a neighbor complain about barking. We never leave them more than 4 - 5 hours max. We do have auto gen start to keep the AC on if shore power is lost.

We are RVers because we found ourselves in a position where if we want to travel, the dog has to come with us. Long story. Anyway, we have never had a problem, we also leave the TV and AC on and pull the night shades on any windows with views to people and have never had a problem. We spent the first summer asking our neighbors if the dog barked and bothered them and in every case the response was "you have a dog?"

Shades don't work with Springer Spaniels. They figure out how to raise them. One day we came home to this. Now we just leave the shades up.

This is all wonderful to hear. I was really worried that campgrounds wouldn't let us stay there and leave our dogs in the RV. Thanks so much everyone.
