Maybe someone can explain to me how anyone in the US wouldn't immediately suspect that the "new guy" with the camera crew following his every move, as he asks, "Do you like this job? What could be done to make it better?" - isn't involved with this show...

Seriously, it's been on the air for how many years now? What are the odds that a new hire has a crew filming his surroundings? I say it's all staged - and even if not, the reactions are. Once you watch this show without suspending your disbelief, the sob-factor and feel-good emotions dry up pretty darn quick.

I'm with the poster who said this is nothing more than a network-sponsored, prime-time informercial.

It is TV entertainment, not a documentary.

It's apparent they either know they have a pr problem and went with high profile location spin or don't have much of a clue or care about the consistency problem. The new "ranking" system will likely set current rates for lesser properties where they are and the sky's the limit on the better ones. Unfortunate the number of frogs before you get to the prince. And once you've experienced enough frogs you change ponds. I can't name them but I suspect you can find nicer places in Ventura, Stockton and Santa Cruz.

We are not that far from the Ventura one staying at a different KOA as monthlies. When it was Frank as the manager and Chelsea at the desk it was very nice to be here. Then Frank left and Chelsea temp left for a few months then hired a couple that ended up only being here for about 3 weeks. In that 3 weeks they brought the park down alot. They did keep saying "we've managed parks for 20 yrs and we are members of Escapees". They were horrible. Now there is another couple here. They say that they owned a park for 3 yrs so they know about RV parks but most of us here now say that they did nothing in that one. They may be better than the last couple they are not that much better.
We are only here until Thom's contract runs out and then not sure where we may go yet. If there was another park that was any better near where Thom works we would move there but in this particular area there is not much to choose from. We have looked and we have visited lots around but not much.

After my Harpers Ferry KOA experience I did send all copies of invoice and a detailed explanation of what transpired. In that case it was not only the sardine like conditions which I expected, but a rude and unwarranted attitude by both staff and owners.

They had many problems with that facility. Corporate gave me a free night of camping at any KOA and a half page apology explaining they don't manage them or have control over how they are run so there is no way they can correct it from a corporate level.

I have not bothered to take the time to send any more letters after that episode, although I should.

Most of the KOA's that I have stayed, I interact with mostly workkampers not owners. They did not even mention anything about Workkampers. They are mostly retirees that sign on for a season and mostly do all of the dirty work for a camping site and a few dollars. They are the real people of KOA.

It was just an hour long infomercial that made CEO look like an doofus.
