Unexpected trip

Might hit the road for Oct and Nov but not sure where to go at that time of year. Where would you go?

Are you going to be coming from Texas? How far were you looking to go?

It's just a long way out of Texas even some surrounding states are not that interesting. It's a great place however.

Head toward Arkansas and to Tennessee. The largest group of tourists at the Grand Ole Opry are from Ohio--with Texans being the second largest group of tourists. Tennessee gets more beautiful the farther you go east.

We love going to the Smoky Mts. in late October. Usually hit the color change near peak. We will be at River Plantation the week of Oct 20.

When we lived in Texas, we would take an annual fall RV trip to Colorado to view the aspen trees changing colors. However, they typically change between Sept. 15th and Oct. 15th. Since we live in Colorado now, I can look out of my windows and see the aspens have already begun to change at the highest elevations, so they might not make it to the middle of October this year. Most of the news/weather channels in Denver and Colorado Springs have sites listing the best places to view the aspens each week. I would be happy to assist you with our favorite places to view the change, just let me know. It can snow here anytime now, but it is very easy to choose your route based on weather observations. Being from Texas you've probably been to Big Bend Nat'l Park but if not, it's a perfect time to go.

The southern Utah national parks would be great in October. Then you could move south a little into Arizona or New Mexico for November.
