Upgrade furniture.

My wife doesn't like the typical god awful fabric that the couch and table cushions are covered with. I think the cushions can be recovered easy and economically. I think recovering the couch would be expensive and I have mechanical improvements that would come first. Is there a reliable source for used RV furniture or covering options? I'm all ears.

We reupholstered all of the furniture in our motor home with Ultra Leather Plus. We used the old fabric as patterns. We replaced the foam in the dinette cushions with a high quality higher density foam.
The couch was not particularly difficult to do (much easier than the captains chairs).
We did have to buy a hog ring tool and quite a few hog rings. also had to buy a good quality hand staple gun and a lot of 1/2 inch staples.

First check with local upholstery shops to get recovering quotes. You might be surprised (in either direction). Then try shops further afield. Some places are just danged pricey, while others are fairly reasonable. There is nothing difficult about recovering RV furnishings, and in fact you can disassemble the sofa and take it to the shop to save some bucks. They typically come out easily, and also break down into 3-5 pieces. Just simple nuts & bolts.

My advice is to make Momma happy first. Makes the mechanical repairs go much smoother.
