US Health Insurance for Canadians

After hearing about a person lossing his house because he checked a box incollectly on a medical insurance application, I am wondering about travelling in the USA. Are there some we should avoid? I am in BC and looking to be in the USA for a week.

The most important thing about travel insurance particularly if you are over 65 is to answer all questions to the very best of your knowledge and honest. If you need to collect and they find out you were not forthright, they can deny coverage bases on a "pre-existing condition" wether or not the claim is related to a pre-existing condition or not.
Friends of ours use BCCA and are happy with their product. Have to be a member though.

Assuming you are retired, you could check out CARP.CA An insurance broker for retired persons. My friend from BC is a strong advocate of their service, because of their knowledge of what you need to compliment your provincial plan and coverage out of country.

You can also check with Canadian Snowbirds Association. They broker travel insurance among other benefits for Canadians traveling to the US.
