In the city of St. Louis it is illegal for a man to sit on a curb & drink beer from a bucket.

Mass. has a bunch called Sunday Blue Laws. My favorite: Every woman going to church on Sunday without her husband must be escorted by another man carrying a shotgun.

When I was growing up there 50 years ago, you could not buy milk or bread on Sunday!

Growing up in Scotland in the 50's I remember my parents saying you could buy a bottle of gin but not a bible on a Sunday.

Is it a joke or are they real... Llittle of both actually.. The laws really do exist.. I seriously doubt you will find them enforced (The funny ones that is) but they do exist.

I have a "Strange laws" app on my phone. and Playboy Magazine used to do regular features on strange laws.. Though they tended to concentrate on one class of law (Of course).. From time to time assorted other news sources do a "Strange law" segment/column as well.

Back in 1974 i was in Virgina Beach, VA, and we wanted to grill some hamburgers on the grill. I went to the store and loaded the cart up with hamburger buns, charcoal, lighter fluid and dog food. At the check out I was told I could not buy the charcoal or lighter fluid and it was because it was Sunday. I asked why I could by the dog food and he replied that people can eat it.
