It is a verified fact that several of them did. (And don't ask for verification - that was over 8 years ago. Google it yourself.)

I found that they tend to ask innocuous-sounding questions that are much more than that. If you're who you say you are, or are very well educated on the area you claim to be from, you'll have no problems. This is nothing new - we've seen it for ~20 years.
In 6 crossings, at 3 locations, we handed them our passports when we drove up, got asked a question or 2, and got given the wave-through. Only once were we even asked about agricultural products (at Peace Arch, northbound). We were very careful to be compliant, but it never became an issue.
