USA today article about chinese rv'ers
I am not a big fan of the USA Today but one was lying around so I thought what the heck. Anyways there was an extensive article on how the chinese are expanding there horizons into the rv world. Interesting article. Many are worried that the rv market will be ruined by knock off chinese rv's here in the states.

I will say this and maybe even get banned from irv but I think we as a county better stop the import from China or they will be signing your pay check and running this country.

In towed vehicles, maybe. I don't see the Chinese developing a motor home chassis that will pass scrutiny with the EPA and the DOT.

It would not be a stretch for the Chinese, Koreans, ? to build a MH similar to the Winnebago View, Via, etc and import it here for far less money than what is currently being charged. And if they did the price of the Winnie's would plummet.

They already make many of the components in an RV, all we do here is assemble the pieces. The tsunami in Japan proved one thing, all it takes is a shortage of one small imported part to stop an entire assembly line.

Sooner or later the Chinese are going to achieve the QC that the Japanese and Koreans have achieved ... They we're all in trouble !!!  Shouldn't be hard to make a Better built RV than some of the problematic (price point) units that come from here...

Hi All,
Hopeing I don't get in trouble from Admin or flammed, but I have not been one to not speak my mind!!
So hear is my 2 cents worth! It is easy to make things cheap when you have low QC and use slave labor!!! The even sadder thing is this does not only happen in there own country, but here also!!

I remember watching a show about Datsun, now Nissan. When the first sent cars to the US the head of the company said they would not start exporting until their car could pass a VW beetle on a hill. Times have certainly changed!
It did not take long for the Japanese to figure out that building cars in the US was more cost effective. Quality control also went up. I even read an article a few years ago that showed a Honda Goldwing had more US made parts than an HD Road King.
Heavy equipment is not cost effective to import. Much of the Japanese heavy equipment is built in the US and Canada. If the Chinese want to build RV chassis they will have to build plants in the markets they want to compete.

It does not matter where the part is from if it is cut off. If the 'sole source' of the part is made Elkhart and the factory burns down, same result.
