Using a Trike or Can-AM Spyder runabout

I am thinking of getting either a Trike or a Can-AM Spyder as a vehicle to go see the sites, day trips, shopping. This is instead of getting motorcycle. Does anyone use one. how do you transport it? Can I carry it in a the RV garage? What about a trailer if I get a Class A, B or C. What problem will I hve?

Well you have many options, not certain but I believe you can get even a class A in a toy hauler but I know you can get fifth wheel and hitch pull. Now you will have the same issues with rain, cold and of course heat most people don't realize riding a motorcycle in the heat is not fun.

Trike or can-am mighty expensive you can buy a lot of nice small convertible cars for that, but I too haul my bike behind our class A just how I want to do it. Homemade trailer no problem yet backing or storing.

You can also get a trailer that has pivot wheels so backing is no issue.
I will let others chime in with more thoughts.

Our bikes are inside and away from the weather. There are many-many options for towed Toy Haulers...but we have a Class A Toy Hauler. There are several available and 2 currently made:
See: http://www.irv2.com/forums/f258/clas...rs-130973.html

The garage inside the RV is a multi-purpose space that can be used for SO many things after you unload the trike. At about 105" long, the CanAm easily fits in most all motorized Toy Haulers.

And...just to share, there is a Class C option (much less cost than a Class A or truck and towable Toy Hauler):
See: https://outlawrv.com/class-c

Best luck

Spyder

I own a Can-Am Spyder RTS SE5. I've measured the garage in a Canyon Star 3921 (my preference) and it will fit but will be tight. There would be more room in a Thor Outlaw, and no problem at all in a XLR 5er. If you opt for a trailer don't get anything smaller than a 7 X 12. Also check posts from ArkTerry (sp) as he also owns a Spyder and just recently bought a new CS 3921.

I have a spyder, 2014 rt ltd. I haul it on a special trailer that the bed cranks down to the ground. Spyders have low clearance, so getting over the top of the ramp can be a problem. I have a thor ace 30.2 class A.

We have a Spyder and until this year had an XLR toy hauler. The Spyder worked well with the toy hauler with no issues with the low clearence (4.5"). We now have a class A and must choose between taking the Spyder on a trailer or towing a car. You do have to be carefull about the clearence issue when using a utility trailer with a ramp. The Spyder will clear if we are on level ground but if there is some incline I use wood blocks to decrease the angle. We love the Spyder and have had it on the Durango-Silverton highway and in the Black Hills, amoung other places. Enjoy.

Spyder

We have a Thor 22e pulling a 14 Spyder on a droptail trailer.
I don't even know it is behind me.
It does have a tight wheelbase so care is needed when backing up

I have a Goldwing trike and haul it in an enclosed trailer. Keeps the trike out of the weather during towing and at night when at the campground. The trailer doubles a garage when we are home.
Just make sure the sides of the trailer are wide enough to accommodate the trike you get.

Motorcycle safely,

Alex

Never mind those funny looking things they call a spider. A real bike man drives a Harley Triglide.

Now isn't this a better looking bike and you don't have to drive it butt first. (Funny looking things).

If you're serious about 3 wheels, there is another option:

the ONLY bike available from the factory - IMZ Ural - Legendary Sidecar Motorcycles - with a sidecar! An attention-getter wherever we go!

Trikes are fine, but a small dirt bike serves me well. Only 300 lbs., and easy to carry.
