Visit Suggestions

DH and I will be travelling from Gainesville Fl. to Middlebury In. early next month and I can't decide what we should see in the week we have to travel between the 2 cities. I would love to see some suggestions from other RVers familiar with that area! Thanks in advance.

Take warm clothes and boots - in March you are gonna see a lot of cold weather, snow or rain! Not a good time for outdoor sight-seeing, so look for museums and such. You may find campgrounds closed as well, or open but the water shut off due to the freeze potential.

I'd recommend Berlin, OH if you can work it into your trip. Heart of a very large Amish community. Both conservative & progressive. Good tours, flea market & food.

I assume you would take I75 north to Toledo and then go west to Middlebury. If you take I75 rather than go all the way to Toledo take US30 from just north of Lima, OH over to FT Wayne, IN and then up to Middlebury. US 30 is 4 lane highway all the way over to Ft Wayne. Sites along the way might be Chattanooga, TN to visit Ruby Falls, or the Tennessee Aquarium, Lexington, KY visit the horse farm, Dayton, OH go to the Air Force Museum, that will take at least a day and well worth the stop. It is free to enter and the only things that you pay for is any food in the cafeteria, the IMAX theater or gift shop. In Indiana make a side trip to Auburn, IN and visit the Auburn Auto Museum. Of course around Goshen are all the various RV manufacturers. I am assuming you might be going to Middlebury to your RV's manufacturer. That is an Amish/Mennonite area so watch out for the horse carriages. You are not going at a very good time for travel north. Weather can be very fickle and March is usually the month with heavy wet snows so be prepared. As mentioned campsites may be hard to find because of freezing weather once you get north of Tennessee. Lot of other things to see and visit. Go to state web sites with Google or Bing and check on attractions.
Good Luck and drive safe.

Use one day to go from Lexington, to Middlebury. Weather is a big factor, so don't plan on much for that day. Otherwise, spend time in Georgia at Andersonville, or stone mountain. Then Chattanooga, ruby falls/look-out mountain. Renfro valley, then Lexington. That horse park is awesome. Nice campground. Thats a lot to see & do in just 5 days.
