If they applied no. 2, they would drum up a lot more business and there would be no reason for them to complain about people parking at Walmarts.

I refuse to pay full rate just to park and sleep.
That makes Walmart my first choice.

Or later. Most of the ones near us are open 24hrs.

On a trip to IL last summer for the FMA rally, we pulled into an open 24hrs one at 2AM, caught a few zzz's & left 6AM. If that's all I'm needing, I can't see paying CG fees for stuff I'm not using. THANK YOU WM in Camby!

How is it one careless match can start a forest fire but it takes a whole box to start a campfire?

Wal-Mart will never do campgrounds. It is small change to them. I heard that the average unit does over $30,000 per hour. Why fool with campgrounds? When you charge for something, you are liable.

We came through Lethbridge awhile ago and had trouble finding the local Walmart. We pulled off the Highway and stayed in a Casino parking lot (lots of other RV's there as well.) It's on the east side of town and south of the Highway.

(Right now we are at Walmart in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario)

Wal-Mart, Cracker Barrel, Craft shows, Dog shows, Ham radio events, Family/Friends driveways, Oh yes we do stay once a year at Fort Wilderness but other than that I'm not sure what I would do at a campground.

Hi Garry
Just curious, is the RV no overnight Parking sign still posted at the WM in SaultSte Marie?

Although the sign was there the WM manager said it was OK as the by-law stated that he should call the police and complain. He said he would never do that and that he didn't know of anyone having a problem while overnight parking there. Real nice guy in my opinion. I do believe there was only that one sign.

I don't want to start any type of "contest" here, but I would not try to circumvent any local laws just because it was convenient "for me."

Maybe the manager is okay with it, but how about the local law that just happens to drive through while you are there and he knows the law.

Try running a seperate sat antenna along the parking lot because you want to park under the tree's. Don't forget the yellow hazzard tape.

Wayne,
You make and excellent point. But the practice of enforcing some laws and ignoring others was started by the very people who make our laws. The genie is out of the bottle.

Many times I think there is no law actually but a way to be able to control the situation if need be. In places where there is a law prohibiting parking over night the managers have apologetically stated that it was against some ordinance.
