If wee need to run the AC at night, we run the generator and go to bed, First one up for potty break turns them off. Our generator burns about 3/4 gallon an hour at load, so that is about $3/hour, so it doesn't take too long to spend more than you would for a cheap campground. We members of Passport America and Camp Club of America and can usually find one. PPA has a neat phone app. It is much cheaper if boondocking to run your propane heater and if you have good batteries, they will run the heater fan all night easily. You can also use an inverter to run an electric blanket. We use a twin and lay it sideways across the bed.

Most generators are fairly quiet. Since we park on the perimeter of the parking lot there shouldn't be a problem if there happens to be houses abutting the parking lot.

If I am going to run the generator, I try and position my coach to put the generator on the side away from everyone (mine is side mounted, not up in the nose).

The annual Calgary Stampede starts this Friday and goes for two weeks . I am expecting the local Wal Marts to be at full R V capacity.

I wasn't at a Hooters ,I was in the Walmart in Newnan Ga. There was a Hooters next to the spot I was in ,so I logged into their free WIFI ,I guess I should have asked them if I could use their internet, sense I was in a Walmart parking lot.

From what I've been able to tell form the prior posts overnighting at a Walmart is preferable to overnighting at a truck stop or rest area. Although in my experience overnighting at a Walmart can sometime be like overnighting at a truck stop.

Am I wrong in thinking Walmart started overnight parking for RVs by posting welcome to park over night.

On our way out west last week, we stopped over night at two walmarts. The one in North Platte, Ne had about 15 RVs and a dozen semis parked over night. now we are enjoying the beautiful Colorado state parks.

It is amazing how often you can get free WiFi at Wal-Mart. I have a omnidirectional USB antenna and it will draw in WiFi from a long way.

My theory is if someone doesn't have a password on their wi-fi. They intend to share it.
