I have an app to identify truck stops & Walmarts, and it says Ocala "has ordinance against overnight parking but it's not well enforced". Call that Wally: 352-236-1188.

If you cannot stay in Ocala, about 1 half hour south is a Walmart that does allow overnighting and they have lots of room. Its in Bushnell right next to the highway. exit 314 I believe.

thanks;
Theres also a rest stop right before you get to Ocala; I've stayed there; they say no over night parking, but I've never had a problem overnighting there; only problem, it is noisy.
I"d rather stay at Walmart
I had a thread started about the Walmart in Ocala, but for some reason it disapeared; the walmart I"m refering to is on silver springs BLVD; I"m hoping some one will have stayed there and could let me know the score.

The cops are probably on the CG payroll too.

If the word gets out that Ocala is not Rv friendly; it's not good for Ocala. has happened to other towns.

When the lot sweeper comes around at night, maybe you could ask him (her) to come in and sweep the RV for you. What the heck, you are on the lot and they are cleaners. It only makes sense.
I think we could green up Wal Mart if next spring, everybody would plant a few tomato seeds on the grassy strips along which we park. Then come July or Aug, your fellow campers would have fresh tomatoes. I'm just sayin'

What? No salt in your tomato soup?

Has anyone stayed at the walmart in Ocala Florida? If so when. I"m planning on going to Ocala to stay at Silver River State park but won't get there till late; so I was thinking of staying at the walmart in Ocala overnight.
Next question? Has anyone stated at Silver River State park Ocala ?
Are you talking of the Wal*Mart right down the road from Silver Springs ? If so we stay there on the weekends they have the concerts at Silver Springs.
They have 24 hour security and like RVs to park in the section between the Burger King and the gas station. We've never stayed at the state park there but have used their dump station, it's a very nice park but without reservations you may not be able to stay there.

Maybe I am naive but with at least 9 RV parks and campgrounds paying taxes and fees in Ocala, I fail to see how banning overnighting in the Walmart parking lot is going to drastically harm the community. Just wondering.

When traveling we bi pass the towns that do not allow RVs to overnight and stay at the RV friendly towns. We eat dinner and shop in the RV friendly town. This is a small example George. For purposes of this discussion, RV friendly towns are the ones that do not have ordinances against overnight parking at walmarts.

No problem as of now to park at any of the 3 Walmarts in Ocala. The Walmart near Silver Springs parking is near the gas station and behind Burger King.

I wonder how many of the posters that see nothing wrong with Corporate Greedy Camp Grounds getting together to ban WM parking, are or have been small business owners.
