If we can keep insulting each other!!! A WalMart Parking thread is almost as good as a thread on Poo. If we could somehow combine the two subjects we might be able to hit 1000 replies!

If posts are within the rules we will eventually hit 10,000 post on this thread. If it gets out of bounds we will lock it down.

I think Wally World needs to fence off one corner of the parking lot, put up a sign for RV parking and charge $10.00 a night to park there. Just put a few more $$$ in the cash register for the corporation.

Well that will be different for a WM thread, but certainly a novel idea. With regard to Wal Mart overnight parking, and by tossing out the "Troll" posts that leaves two trains of thought (1) Those who like it, and like it a lot (2) then those who don't like it and don't like it at all
Now without any doubt I consider myself to be in the first group. We got our MH in 2005 and it hasn't been in a CG since that date. But then again we may have a slightly different purpose for our RV than most who post here.We use it to visit friends and relatives, overnighting at parking lots along the way. Our last trip was just under 8000 miles and of a 2 month duration so it's not like going to visit cousin Joe in the next town.
So! Why do we overnight at Wal Mart? Well the short answer is "it's cheap and convenient for us" There are other factors that helped us determine what is best for us
Anyone else feel like posting why they do or do not overnight at the Wally's?

Cheers
Willey

Now that would be a money saver for me since I always feel obligated to go in the store and it dang sure costs me more than $10.

We've spent one night in a Walmart parking lot, not by choice. On our Great American Road Trip this summer I-40 was closed between Winslow and Flagstaff because of wind. We had stopped at the Walmart to re-provision after a week on the road, and then when trying to get back on I-40 were turned around. The Wally-world was the closest big parking lot so we went back and killed an hour or so shopping.
Our daughter (who was turning 12 the next day) had been wanting to spend the night in a Walmart parking lot, and so for her birthday she got her wish. The road was closed for over 18 hours, and we, about a dozen other RV's, a hundred or so trucks and assorted cars (including one poor fellow in a Smart car) spent the entire night in the Walmart parking lot.
Nothing wrong with it, I rested ok, but Lady CurbCrusher didn't sleep well. She's not comfortable with the idea of doing it regularly.

I know how to do this. If you see a storm drain in the walmart parking lot, and you're parked near it, is it OK to run your sewer hose over and dump. I mean its sort of like a dump station right? JUST JOKING!! I know the answer, and I would never do it, but it does combine the the two subjects in a way that should ignite ta thread.

We use Walmarts (and other free parking lots) occasionally when we are traveling and just need an overnight spot. I guess it's mostly the price that attracts us, though we usually spend more in the store than any campground would cost. Sometimes it's the convenience of the location as well - a free parking lot in the right palce beats a nice campground somewhere else.

The downside is that many of the parking lots are noisy nearly 24/7, some are crowded, and a few have given us concerns about vandalism (if it looked downright unsafe, we would just move on). It's enough to discourage us from making Walmarts a routine stop.

I still prefer a Sam's Club parking lot over a WalMart parking lot. But I generally feel safer in the Wal-Mart Parking lot than in a Cracker Barrel parking lot. I also think that a Flying J is a very convient place to overnight at. We also have only used for overnight stops... except in Rockport, when we were trying to find a campground.

I'm just a creature of comfort, and having a CG vs., Wally-world is like the difference of a park bench and the Hilton (Or Prevost). I'm sure that one day the situation will arise where we spend the night in a parking lot. I just wish Apple had some big paring lots next to their stores.

I'm the last person to advocate any sort suppression of free speech, short of vulgarities and defamatory comments, but this whole Walmart thread seems to be going no where at all and that poor horse has been dead for a long time. . . Can't this thread simply be removed and put out if its misery?

Believe it or not but some dude from Georgia actually did that last year and was caught by the police. We had a thread on it, click here. The haz-mat team was called out to clean up the mess and he was held legally and financially responsible.

We don't remove threads unless there is a severe violation of the rules and we don't close threads unless many posts are getting out of hand.

As long as the posts remain within the rules, the dead horse may continue to be beaten.

Best rule is to ask the manager - we seldom use WM overnighting but when we have the manager has always welcomed us, even one time in a town that had an ordinance against overnighting in a business parking lot. The manager asked us to stay on the far side of the parking lot and assured us there would be no problem. They are great people - just ask.
