This is fun, just dont get angry! we all will never agree whats cool! And only when the Powers That Be, have seen enough dissrespect, will be turned away! Jed Clampet never thought they looked out of place at Wallys in there 1927 truck with a rocking chair in top! The trick is to not push it! I am never mad at those that misstreat a good thing! I just roll in around 9pm, tired and go to sleep! Those that choose to think its there for them to save money and camp out, have fun it wont last long! CG owners and the many investors and workers of CG will see it stops! The song and dance about going in to spend money! Most would be doing that at at a Wally before they left home anyway! Not 1 in a hundred go in and ask! Its a gift till its abused! And a great gift at that! allegro5

Untrue. Walmart is not the only store that people shop at. The idea of allowing Rvers to stop over night is to lure their business away from the competition.

This thing needs another kick in the pants to get it going again.

Very true georgetown, as an example here in New Glasgow Wal Mart is at one end of the "Highland Square Mall" and the Canadian Tire Store is at the opposite end and they both welcome RV over nighting and hoping the RV'ers will visit their stores (statement from the managers).
Now these stores do not sell all the same stuff, but there is enough similarity between a lot of their merchandise to make them competitors.
Cheers

I have thought about asking Walmart's board of directors to rent me space for RV repairs. The only problem is money and energy to get it going. I know a lot of technicians but it would take time to find the good quality kind to put into the different stores around the country.

The person who made the swimming pool comment has kind of a point.
For me, Wall-Mart is an overnight, Pull in at the end of the day, perhaps walk to supper, park over night, move on in the morning, only put out one or two slides (Depending on where in the lot I'm parked) and try to put them out over grass (curb side)
Same for flying J
If I'm planing on parking long enough to go swimming I want an RV park.

I went on the Walmart web site and left a comment thanking them for allowing us to park our RV's while we shop and in some cases get a few hours rest. Hope it helps for them to know how much we appreciate them.

I have never spent 1 night in a WalMart parking lot, but have been forced to spend a night or 2 in the parking lot of a RV repair shop. I don't care one iota if you spend your nights at WalMart and I don't feel I have any right to tell you how or where to spend the night.
Why should it bother anyone where I choose to spend the night in my RV? Just my opinion.

Right on, I'm with you all the way, except I've spent many an overnight at various Wal Marts. I ask, they say it's OK and where to park so it's between me and the WM store and of no one else s concerns.
Cheers

I parked at a Walmart in W. Va.,near the NASCAR track, Martinsburg. (If I'm remember the city correctly) anyway. The local Gov't voted in an ordiance for no overnight parking as the lots were being abused , according to the Security guard who approached us after we parked. It was not a Race weekend and we were the only coach besides one 18 wheeler, He said no problem and we could stay but told us stories of people dumping black water into the storm drains with evidence on the grates. A GOOD THING RUINED BY A FEW!

Those who flaunt the rules will ruin it for those of us who observe "parking overnight" etiquette. If you wish to camp then use a campground, if you plan to park overnight then you should not act as though you are camping. Use some common sense!

No doubt that is a part of their policy. However, I have heard that Mr. Sam Walton was a camper and was partial to Rv'ers and wanted to provide a place for them to stay, as well as shop.
I don't think this policy is entirely profit motivated. We take up the space of at least a half dozen normal vehicles and purchase what we need when we need it, and probably create some liability for Walmart in the bargain by staying overnight.
Rock on Walmart, I appreciate your hospitality and will be taking advantage of it in the next several days on a trip from San Antonio to Indiana.
We too only use Walmart when we are traveling through an area after a very long day trying to get from point A to point B or C. We do not use them in place of a campground. Campgrounds are always preferred for the quality of RV life.
