We spend on a average $500.00 a month at Walmart. So when we are traveling in our coach we will always forget something,so.....Walmart! We stay every time when traveling to shop and load up and sleep, as far as what other people are doing....... Who gives a s__t! If you are concerned with what others are doing, you need to find something to do!

The people in the world will do as they see fit to suit themselves not as other people think. Walmart is a one stop shopping center and a great place to shop when traveling in a RV, and to top that..... They welcome everyone! Even truckers to shop, eat spend their money and get a nights rest on them! What an offer....as for the cents adding up on this subject, it will hit a million before it is over as everyone has their own opinion as we all are entitled to.

But if you do not agree with the Walmart policy, go to a campground for the night and don't look into the parking lots at the Walmarts as you drive by and you will cause yourself a lot less stress and you will have more time on your hands to repair or clean your RV instead of typing letters about what others are doing in the world. Thank you for taking the time to read my 1 million cents!

Just to put an end to all the claptrap that was generated by the Nova Scotia Campground owners that has has gone on in the past. Keeping in mind that the Tourist industry and CG owners convinced Wal Mart and some others that they were breaking the law by allowing overnight parking by RV's. A lot of work by RV'ers, both North and South of the border has gone into putting an end to the belief.
This is an email I received from my Legislative Representative during the campaign to put an end to the belief and the signs.

Hi Willis – I have contacted the researcher at the NDP Caucus office and this is the information she has provided:

There is NO SUCH THING as RV parking ban legislation; it doesn't exist and it is not illegal to park your RV in a parking lot anywhere in Nova Scotia , unless that mall or store has signs telling you not to.

There is a law about operating unlicensed campgrounds, but the difference would be if WalMart charged overnight fees and offered services like showers, etc. Simply stopping overnight is definitely *not* illegal.

The province has allowed the misguided impression to spread that it is illegal. The documents I got through freedom of information clearly state from the Dept. of Tourism: legal opinion is clear that the province does not have the jurisdiction to ban RV parking in parking lots.

Thank you for asking for an update – I am glad to have this new information on hand.

Shortly after I had the pleasure of sending an email to the Minister of Tourism in NS. The following is an excerpt from that letter

Mr Minister
I wish to thank you and your staff for the prompt and decisive action taken regarding the signs posted at Wal*Marts, quoting Section 3 Article 3 of the present Tourism and Accommodation Act of Nova Scotia. Myself and other members of the RV'ing community who are constantly working online to debunk the "RV Unfriendly stigma" attached to Nova Scotia, appreciate the work by yourself, your staff and other MLA's of the Legislature who are working cooperatively so that the Prov. of Nova Scotia in future will be regarded as the primary place to visit on vacation.

To be perfectly clear the owner of a property has the right to post his property but the onus falls on the owner to enforce it, and to the best of my knowledge all the signs have been taken down. There is a Wal Mart on Mumford Rd. in the City of Halifax that does not allow overnight parking again to the best of my knowledge all the rest do allow it.
I hope this will put an end to the erroneous information being posted on the forums about overnight parking in NS.

I could go back and hunt up the statistics, but I wont , but the end result of the stupidity was a loss of RV traffic to the Province to the tune of a round 20%. That was a lot of lost revenue. Boycotts do work
BTW the Prov of NS has the distinction of being able to count every RV entering and leaving the province so the statistics were very accurate.
And of course the taxpayer has to make up for lost funds

2002 .... 101,000
2003 ..... 88,000
2004 ..... 84,000
2005 ..... 73,000
and then it got worse

I know some DW's who could spend all their time touring from outlet mall to outlet mall and DH's hopping between sporting good stores, and they consider both of them tourist attractions. While the Wal-Mart in between is the best camp ground (complete with a camp store) to be found.

I am just as amused at the severe preoccupation some posters have to commenting about an RVers decision to use Wal-Mart as a stop-over.
This is about choices folks. Just because your choice is not the same as my choice does not make either choice correct or incorrect.
